Mobile just back - highs, lows and observations

We have just returned from 4nights staying at the Sequoia Lodge Golden Forest.

Highs
Crowd levels were minimal.
Having a room near the lifts.
Golden forest room benefits (cooked breakfast was delicious, quiet breakfast room, plentiful soft and hot drinks during afternoon and evening, afternoon snacks were tasty, fast pass was useful)
Enjoyed an hr in the hotel pool.
Loved Ratatouille!
Rstransport transfers were excellent and early for both pick ups, vehicles were new and clean.

Lows
It was freezing! Two days it never made it above freezing.
Ground was slippy around parks and Disney village - be careful.
Lost of rehabs.
Price of a meal... Astronomical.
Scary armed police in the station and lots of bag checking at val d'europ.

Observations
There were a lot of adult couples and conventioners around the parks.
Place generally looked tired and in need of TLC.
Disney village restaurants seemed very quiet in the evening.
Always chose the left queue on rides it will be the shorter queue.
Newport Bay = building site so glad we didn't stay here.

We got back a few weeks ago and would make similar observations to you especially about how tired the place is starting to look. It really is in need of a refurbishment. It was nice and quiet, probably because it was freezing!

We have now decided not to go back for a few years as I believe that some major refurbs are planned over the next couple of years.

Having said that, we had not planned on going this year ... so who knows!

I'm interested on your left hand side theory
Know it sounds mad - as my family do at WDW but some things just load quicker and easier - and I do notice too

Any ride in particular?

Pirates of the Caribbean, we walked straight on the ride there was a queue of 20 people in the right queue.

Big Thunder Mountain, depends if the fast pass queue is open as the two queues may merger near the stairs.

Always had armed army guys as whenever I have been. Glad to hear about the bag checking at Val D'europe. All makes me feel safer as it may deter someone from trying something. Hoping to return in the summer.
