Gatwick check in

Hi, Have read some posts regarding long queing times checking in/security at gatwick, we are flying to sanford on a saturday morning in october at 09.40 with Thomas Cook. What time would you guys recommend arriving at the airport? We are staying in a local b&b so quick journey in taxi. Not flown from gatwick before so no idea whatsoever!

I always aim to get there 3 hours before so I'd be aiming to arrive at the airport about half 6.

We always get to the airport at leat 3 hours prior to our flight, if not before. We normally get a taxi from home about 45 min journey which picks us up at about 5am

This is exactly the same flight that we went on on 5 July.

We had booked a local B&B to stay in overnight, so we travelled down on the Friday. We went straight to the airport, and used the day before check-in that Thomas Cook are offering at the moment. We were allocated our seats and given our boarding cards.

That meant that the next morning we got to the airport at 7.15 am and went straight through security, and the queues were not bad at all - it took about 10 minutes (if that!).

The queues for check-in were horrendous, so my recommendation would be to make use of the day before check-in - if they are offering it at the time. It doesn't cost anything, and hardly anyone else on our flight used it.

That sounds brilliant, we fly on 11th October so not sure if they will still be doing the day before check in? Fingers crossed
If not we'll be there 3-4 hours earlier I guess

Just found this on Thomas Cook website so guess we're out of luck!

Checking in - Gatwick

'Customers travelling from Gatwick before midday, can check-in from 1600-2200 the day before departure.
All departures up to and including 12:00 midday the following day (excluding cruise passengers).

This applies for departures from Friday 4th July 2008 until Thursday 11th September 2008'.

Hi there.

Its a shame because Tc stop doing their day before check in on the 11th Sept

We're going on the 9th, so we just made it. Apparently you can check in at 4pm the day before and get your boarding pass and seat.
Its a really good idea but they should do it all year.

Just be one of the first in line at check in then you can relax a little.
