When you say family - how many of you are there? There are some aparthotels if you have more than one child (one child will usually be OK in the room at any Premier Inn). The Citadines chain is usually quite good for semi suite styles - there is one near the Barbican

Premier Inn County Hall is nice. It is right by the London Eye.

We've booked a room here for Aug for 2ad and 2 kids. It was only £120 for the night which I thought was pretty good for the location and time of year.

I'd say a premier inn, good value for money and kids eat free at breakfast when the adults book it, and the breakfasts are fab!
