Is it misty in New York in August?
I'm sorry if this sounds a really stupid question
I've read a lot of trip reports about New York and quite a few give caution about going to ESB or TOTR in case it is misty giving poor visibility We are going in August and plan to do each one first thing on 2 different days (we are also doing TOTR at night) My question is are the mornings misty in August or just during the winter - are we better moving our plans to do these 2 places later in the day. Thanks |

We went for 10 days last August, and the weather was beautiful, not misty at all. That said, when we visited Empire State and TOTR, both had signs up saying that if visibility was poor, you could return free of charge later that day or week, but there was no need. We loved the weather in August, it was a brilliant time of year to visit 😀

We went August 2013 - it was very hot and humid and to be honest the views from SOL over to Manhattan were very hazy. That was the only thing that the heat affected. Views from both TOTR and ESB was stunning!

Ive been to NYC every august for the past 4 years and its always been very sunny and no clouds or misty.
This year we did decide to go up the TOR on a very cloudy rainy period of the day but any other time it is perfectly fine. We are heading back in Late august again this summer x
