I can highly recommend the Tradewinds Island Grand in St Pete's Beach.
Just a short boat trip to Shell Island which is a magnificent, quiet beach with lovely clear water & lots of fish. Also, the hotel has an aqua park in the sea, lots of inflatables & things that the kids will love. Also, the monster of all slides on the beach. Our son can't wait to get there & he is 11. |

There are three of us on the Dibb with villas in Rotonda West which is on the Cape Haze peninsular.
Rotonda is a nature preserve and is 30 sq miles of natural habitat with lots of wild life, from Alligators, Bob Cats, Otters, Armadillos, Racoons, Birds, Squirrels and Rabbits to name a few. Situated between Sarasota and Fort Myers it is ideally located to explore this stretch of coastline and on down to the Glades. There are stunning beaches together with excellent local restuarants. With as much or as little to do as the feeling takes you, peaceful and quiet. There are some guides which may be a good starting point to gather some info. And whilst yes the winter months do attract the snowbirds, not all of them are on Zimmer Frames Rotonda West has a good number of yellow buses so a good mix of age groups. Any questions just ask away. Rotonda Girl |

Are you saying that visitors to Rotonda are not all geriatric then like those who choose to visit AMI?

We have just spent 10 days in a Dibb Villa in Rotonda West. Dragonflies Villa. It was absolutely fantastic. Two teenage boys 16 and 14.
There are loads of things to do and wildlife to see. We saw tortoises crossing the road outside the villa. Big lizards at Boca Grande. We visited the Myakka State Park and saw snakes, loads of different birds including vultures and of course, about 20 alligators - this was a fantastic day out. We kayaked at Fort Myers and saw sting rays and dolphins in the water. We did visit Anna Marie and Fort Desoto beaches for day trips. Absolutely loved shelling - the boys joined in too and my eldest DS found the most beautiful shell. I cannot recommend this area enough, the beaches are outstanding and the water is warm and beautifully clear.
