Halloween is really busy both for DVC and WDW in general but we have not had any trouble getting our reservation even when we wanted BLT which is always popular due to the walk home from MK after MNSSHP.

No charge for switching but you don't need two resorts. You wouldn't be able to book the second resort until the second week anyway but if you already have a one week booking at your first resort your room is "blocked" and if you phone on day 6 you will get the next week. SSR is the cheapest MF and a great place to own (we have SSR and BLT) and you can get a fantastic deal Resale so if that is where you want to stay most then just buy points there.
You sound like you will be after quite a few points so I would suggest a couple of contracts with the same UY rather than one huge one. |

Yes looking at either one 250 point or two 125 points, like SSR but also like Beach Club as well so perhaps 125 points at each may be more suitable and should anything change we cam try to sell one and keep the other.
Were looking at resale as were not too worried about the items you loose buying resale as opposed to direct and were save a lot of money on resale. |

As Bella has said SSR will be fine. It is always the last to book. To give you an idea, looking at the 2 weeks around Halloween this year (24th Oct - 10th Nov) you can currently get the full 2 weeks in:
Any studio, 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom at Kidani 1 bedroom Lake View at BLT Any studio, 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom at OKW Any studio, 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom at SSR 2 Bedroom Lake View at VGF 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom at Wilderness lodge. All others have at least 1 day of the 2 weeks fully booked. These have been booking since November and there are still a couple of months until the 7 month mark but it gives you an idea of the ones that are usually available. HTH! BelleWannabe

Remember to weigh up how many points you will need for your desired room type for a week at each resort, it probably will not be the same. We got our SSR Resale and it was a bargain, we would never buy Direct again unless we had a burning "need" for a new resort!

We've always stayed for a minimum of 2 weeks, usually 3 and have never had a problem, owned since 2002. I generally book our home resort of BCV at 11 months, then tweak at 7 months, usually extending the stay at lower point costing resorts.
