weighing the cases
do any of you weigh your cases before you go? and if so how do you do it?
The plan was to go with empty cases were only taking 3 (for 4 of us) and the bulk of the weight are towels, toiletries, suncream etc which we will be leaving there. the weight of the case was 12kg and then we put a few toiletries in that case and it was 23kg! and broke our weigher (its something that you weigh fish on when going fishing lol) Before we go out and buy weighing scales, i wondered what everyone else did? |

You can get a little thingy from Lakeland that weighs your suitcases. It's the same idea as the fishing one, but it's especially for cases so I guess it would be more robust. We've never weighed ours before we go, but always weigh them before the return! I blame DH and his trainer purchases

Leaving for the states its the good old bathroom scales.
Coming home its pot luck, and lots of repacking to balance the load!

Is it me doing it wrong then ? , as I have weighed ours and they are only coming to around 12kg each and the smallest one only 7kg! The only things we havent packed are towels as we can buy whilst we are there.

We've upgraded with TCD and got 30kg so haven't had to be as keen weighing before we flew. We bring quite a bit back but as we've then discarded all of the toiletries it evens itself out.
If we had 20kg or 25kg limit then I think we would weigh the cases - it's not worth risking it. |

BAthroom scales. Weigh yourself and then get on with the case! We are taking 1 large wheely holdall each this year, but they will be practically empty, as we plan to shop when we get there. Has anyone ever had a problem with this? As it must be really obvious that you are planning on bringing a lot back.
