Good advice re spring break stayed once overnight when spring break was on it was like one of those american frat house party movies. For a day trip Daytona is perfectly OK we prefer Ormond beach heading north up the A1A.
We prefer the gulf side much more tropical and laid back but as far as a day at the beach goes Daytina is fine. Alison |

Every time there is a Daytona thread we get this Blackpool nonsense.
The beach is 23 miles long and there are multi million dollar homes by some of its length. You have far more to do than most other beaches and all of the restaurants you could wish for. Like Daytonababe I have been going to this area for a long time and you can see from my countdown will be there for 4 weeks later this year. I have been to every Gulf Coast resort from Naples to Tarpon Springs but have no hesitation in recommending Daytona Beach. By the way locals go everywhere local to them and New Smyrna Beach is no more unique in this than anywhere else. |

The Spring Break advice is an excellent point, we have just returned from a cruise and spent a wonderful week on Marco Island.
It was Spring Break as we got to Marco and the main parts of the beach were busy. So this will apply to all the beach resorts in Florida.

You could park at the pier there is a carpark where you pay for all day parking. Or Alan Shepherd Park again I think there is a flat fee for parking. There are other beach access points that have coin meter parking.

Not been since 2011 but there was plenty of parking for free near the pier when we went.

edit: oops - not got the hang of replying yet. This was in answer to "When is Spring Break"?
Unfortunately, it's different at each college. This gives you a bit of an idea. |

We parked near the pier, plenty of reasonably priced parking, a nice bit of beach and volley ball nets if you're feeling energetic
