Question Fairfx for a preloaded cash card??

Hello all,Fairfx dot com has had a mention this week on another post. At the moment they are offering $2.001 to the £ for a preloaded cash card.It seems to be backed by newcastle building society.
I believe they charge $2 for atm withdrawels. It is accepted everywhere mastercard is.From thier website it states the following.
convenient to use - just load and spend
0% commission
0% management fees or hidden charges
0% fees on transactions, low ATM fees
fix the rate when loading so you know what everything costs when using the card
load up to £2,500 at any one time
chip and pin protected for your security
accepted at millions of outlets

Has any one used them at all? It just seems too good to be true.
Regards Floridaholic

Dad and I signed up for one each today although there is a bit of confusion over how long the card is valid for.

The card FAQs on fairfx.com state that the card expires after 36 months whereas the terms and conditions on fairfxcard.com state that the card will expire after 12 months. Could somebody confirm which is right?

hi all

we have loaded a pre-paid Post Office, Visa Electron card, to cover our room key purchases at POFQ. We assumed this would be ok but after reading other posts we are now a bit worried.

Can Dibber's please confim if this card is accepted by Disney

many thanks in advance, Dorothy

Hi, I was looking at the Fairfx pre loaded card and am going to apply for one next wk.

I emailed them with a few questions I had and they got back straight away. It seems good as you will know what spending money you have and as they advised, it is accepted where a Mastercard sign is.
They also advised it is free of charge to use at point of sale ,ie restaurants but there will be a charge for ATM withdrawals.

Yes, same as a credit card. Once you report it stolen the card will be cancelled and you will get your money refunded.

these look very interesting... am worried about travellers cheques dont want to have to carry too much around and DH is worried that I will go on credit card overdrive so this could be a compromise (not a word I usually use but mught keep a smile on his face and get him to agree to going back to WDW next year )

How do you know how much money you have got left on one of these cards, because once i'm in Florida i won't be using a computer to find out and what happens if you still have money on them when you come home, (that's very unlikely though!!)
