I was in the same boat as you. People were talking about it, so I did some searching around and ordered one (through the Matalan link to avoid paying the £9.95 charge).

Now would appear to be the best time to top-up as they're currently offering $2/£

Steve

Its a pre-Load currency mastercard..you can load $ or euros onto it via your debit card they are offering $2 to the £ again today with free card Purchase (normally £9.95) you can use it in shops and ATMs(£1 per transaction at machines) ( it will save on Cloning of your debit card) so no ID fraud
you can top up anytime

Yes it works like a debit card. You have to have money loaded on to it to make purchases.

I believe the card is valid for 3 years. After that you will be send a new card and any money will be transferred onto that new card. Or you can ask for a refund. There is a fee of around £10

The rate you purchase your Dollars at is 'locked'. So if the rate goes up or down, it doesn't affect how much money you have on the card.

Because the rate is rather good at the moment (£1 = $2) you are effetively doubling your money! So if you purchase £500 right now, it would be worth $1000. And when you travel a year from today, no matter what happens to the rate, you will still have $1000 on your card

I can't find anything on their page to say who regulates them. I would have thought as they are taking deposits from you they would have to be.

Anyone else know?
