Dollar_Bill and Jools Go West, Day 21, Shopping

Day 21 Shopping
Saturday 4th October 2008

We wanted to see the Habitat at the Flamingo today. This is as the name suggests an outdoor habitat with fish and birds and is at the Flamingo hotel/casino. The weather had cooled down a lot today and it felt like a nice summer day at home. We spent some time at the Habitat and Bill took these photos.

It was very relaxing there and hard to believe we were in fact on the busy Las Vegas Strip. After seeing the Habitat, we once again tried to find the Premium Outlets. We approached directly from the strip this time, whereas the day before we were approaching from the opposite direction and from the highway. Well we found the Premium without any problems this time. Wow this is some size, a lot bigger than the Premium Outlets at the South of I-Drive in Orlando. We had a good look around and Bill got some Tommy Bahamas perfume stuff he likes. I didn’t see anything I was desperate to buy so didn’t get anything.

We then went to the Fashion Show Mall which is on the Strip. This has the big stores such as Macey’s and Bloomingdales amongst others. It’s a good mall if you like to shop (which I don’t) I suppose. We didn’t buy anything in the shops but we did go to Maggianos for a late lunch (it was 3pm by then). Bill had lasagne, which was enormous and I had chicken marsala and mushrooms, with a lovely creamy pasta. Mine was not enormous more like simply huge. We both left quite a lot as we wanted to ensure we had room for dessert. We’d eaten at Maggianos at Pointe Orlando once and their desserts are to die for. Bill had apple crustada with ice cream and I had tiramasu. We couldn’t finish the desserts either It was a lovely meal in great surroundings. It was quite quiet when we were in there and we were there for over an hour which was great as we hate being rushed. Whilst we were there a wedding party came in. One of the bridesmaids must have had a hard day as she was wearing flip flops and a beautiful bridesmaids dress. Poor soul I could sympathise with her having sore feet.

We then went back to the villa to let our huge meals digest. Later we went out again as we wanted to get some sweet goodies to take with us when we go back to work. We went to the Walgreens at Freemont Street as it’s huge and parking there is easy. Traffic was very heavy on this Saturday night but we got there eventually.

The bike weekend was still in full swing and there were lots of people in the streets just having a good time looking at bike stuff and singing along to the live bands that were playing. There was a tremendous musical light show a bit later on. We thought it was brilliant and sang along to the old songs whilst watching a musical tribute on the overhead lights. We also got what we wanted from Walgreens and left just as it started to rain. It took over an hour to get back to our resort as the traffic was hardly moving along the Strip. Ah well never mind we were dry and happy in the car, although I was trying to push the thought of packing to go home out of my mind.

We eventually reached the resort, watched some TV then it was time for bed. I’d really have to get my butt in gear to pack the following morning.
