Unbelievable sights... Day 13
Day 13 – Thursday 21 May – The... wonderful thing about Tigger...
Day 13...unlucky for some... but not for us! It appears that the Digital Doppler is not infallible, as the rain held off and we had a beautiful day of sunshine and blue skies. Being Thursday, it gave us 3 days inclusive left of the holiday. So we did a little planning and given that we wanted to do MK on the Saturday, that left us with Seaworld and somewhere else. Mmm...what about Epcot we thought? It wasn’t high on our to do list...but we thought we’d go there anyway and see how we got on for a few hours...how wrong were we to underestimate Epcot...a hidden gem if ever there were one... So, children dressed in their swimwear (just in case of rain!) we parked up, boarded the monorail and entered the park to find a flower and garden festival in full bloom. The first feature was all the princes and princesses as topiary bushes, with flowers to colour in their outfits. Dotted around were further floral displays featuring scenes from the Disney films. It was very well done. We wandered a little, and Jemima caught sight of Mickey and Minnie in a window, which immediately made her run over for a closer look. Reading the park programme, we noticed that there was a character meet spot, so headed over, and found ALL the Disney characters waiting for us – Mickey, Pluto, Donald, Goofy and Minnie – all one after the other, and all in their traditional outfits. Fabulous! especially as Jemima was wide awake and in really good humour. We got some fantastic pictures. We were already loving Epcot now and virtually skipped over to the lake further into the park. As if by magic...the boat appeared, so we hopped aboard and cruised around the lake, past England and Venice, and then back to the start. It was a nice little pause for us all and a chance for Jemima to do some serious waving at each of the little ports. Back where we started, we headed off to Mexico and had a ride on the Three Caballeros boat trip, which was good fun, before setting off to Norway, and viewing the Viking display. China was a treat, as Mulan was there, and Germany was especially good as it was here we stopped to get some authentic Bavarian biscuits – yummy – and we met Snow White (Zak picked up his kiss for the day!) Past Venice, and America...we continued our world tour and found ourselves in Japan, and on the border of Morocco. We bought a quick snack in Morocco, and then met Princess Jasmine, who was happy to hold Zak, who was equally happy to be held by a princess! On through France, we caught a glimpse of Belle and the Beast, but Jemima was a little unsure about the latter, so we hurried on to Old Blighty, where beer was aplenty in the traditional pubs and Mary Poppins was posing complete with her notorious bag and umbrella. We wound our way through the narrow streets, and stumbled across an old toy shop, and inside...was Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore – Jemima was a little wary of Tigger to begin with, but once she saw Zak smiling with him, she was eager to meet him too. So...pretty exhausted after our fleeting trip around the globe...and the plethora of character meets, we sat down near the little water fountains, and watched Jemima skipping in and out trying to avoid getting wet...or was that trying to avoid staying dry?! We left Epcot pretty late on and drove home for a home cooked stirfry and well earned rest after a pretty fabulous day! Check out Day 14
