Unbelievable sights... Day 14
Day 14 – Friday 22 May – Hakuna Matata...it means no worries
Our penultimate day had come...but not too quickly as it happened. Certainly we felt like we’d had a great, and long, holiday which is always good news! The bad news was that the sky was back to a darker shade of grey, but touch wood there was no rain...yet! We decided to leave the house fairly early while it was still somewhat dry, and headed off to Seaworld to take advantage of our ‘free’ second day. We took it easy round the park, first up going to see the Stingray pool, where we managed to tickle quite a number of them (I’ve always had a strange appeal to sea creatures...! ). Next up we visited our old favourites the Manatees. We all love these creatures which have an almost prehistoric look to them. To Jemima’s joy, they said hello to us too, in their own special way. After the Manatees, we were feeling peckish so purchased some really delicious cakes from the bakery near the entrance. I had a blue cupcake, Jemima had a giant cookie, DH had a piece of cake and Zak did the best sharing some of each. As we finished off our baked goods, the wind started up quite violently, and then... the rain came. Not wishing to get soaked through, we decided to go back to the villa for some rest and to start our packing. We’d bought a spare bag at Walmart’s previously so were able to fit all our clothes in that and one of our cases, while our other large case was more-or-less filled with the Disney trainset we’d bought at Downtown. Actually we must have spent quite a while in the villa, as the next part of my notes begins ‘at 8pm..’! At 8pm, we were feeling like we wanted some food, and as it was our last night we felt we should eat out...and pizza appealed. We thought we’d seen a few places on the main road near to us, so packed everyone into the car, and drove...it was while we were driving, and finding no-where appealing enough to stop, that we suddenly had the idea to head to Epcot...why not? The kids aren’t too grouchy, it’s our last night, and the fireworks do sound intriguing... So at about 8.20pm we pulled up into the carpark...one of very few cars travelling in the direction of the carpark..and walked through the entrance to view Epcot by night. The big golf ball thing (I still don’t know what that is) was lit in colourful lights and despite our haste to get a good spot for the fireworks, we managed to get a shot of us in front of it. The actual fireworks...or son et lumiere I guess you’d call it, was truly breathtaking and a perfect end to our trip. We got front row positions, not far from Mexico and both Jemima and Zak watched in awe. It was only as we made our way out afterwards, that they both fell sound asleep, for the rest of the night. DH and I did get our pizza after all...we ordered a takeaway which arrived at about 11pm, after another round of pool and a few games of table football! It was with heavy hearts that we went to sleep...happy with our holiday, but very very sad to be leaving... Check out our final day..
