Don't Squeeze Me I've Had A Cocktail - Day 3

Day 3 - Tuesday 23rd March 2010

Me (Pam) - Trip co-ordinator and frustrated travel agent, Non-rider, people-watcher and official cocktail consumer

DH (Bill) - Captain of the GB snoring team, laid back enough to go along with all holiday arrangements made by me and big ride partner of

DD (Olivia) - Our very own yakking yeti, Dibb celebrity, soft toy collector, trainee stalker and all round great company

Woke up at around 06:30 as we were docking in Key West. We watched a bit of the docking and Bill went up and took a few pics of the sunrise.





We had some breakfast on the Lido deck and then headed off the ship to catch the trolley into town. We were dropped off at Front St so headed down to the bottom of Duval to the Southernmost Point – it took about 20mins to get down there and we had the obligatory photos taken by the buoy.







We then walked up to the Hemingway House to visit the cats and spent a bit of time there which was lovely. We have visited before so we didn't take the tour or spend much time in the house - just played with the cats. Livi got to feed them some treats and we wandered around in the gardens. The weather was bright and sunny and not too hot!

After the house we crossed over so Olivia could have her photo taken on her very own street in Key West!

We walked back up on the other side of Duval and had a look in some of the shops with the obligatory stop at Margaritaville before catching the trolley back to the ship.

We were back on board at about 12:30 and the ship sailed at 2pm. Just a short stop in Key West but long enough really just to soak up the atmosphere. Once back on board we went up to the Lido deck and had a snack for lunch and Livi went to seek Ella out and they spent the afternoon at the kids club indulging in all sorts of food activities involving chocolate and ice cream. Bill & I took in some sun on deck with yet another cocktail which today was a ‘Goombay Smash’ and it tasted remarkably like yesterday’s! We watched the ship sail from Key West and headed back to the cabin for a bit of a chill and I did have another little nap - did I mention those cocktails are quite strong? This is all helping me adjust to the timezone you understand! Bill's snoring wasn't too bad last night fortunately as he had his mouthguard in so I felt quite well rested! We had another early dinner and although it was elegant night we stayed very informal and some may even say inelegant! We met up with Ella’s Mum, grandparents and sister in the dining room and introductions were made by the girls. They were a lovely family and we were pleased that Livi had made some nice friends.

The dinner this evening was very good. I had stuffed baked mushrooms for my starter and Bill & Livi both had the Parma ham and melon although Liv donated her melon to Bill. Liv & I had the Prime rib for main course and Bill had the lobster. The rib was really very good, succulent meat and very tender. Bill enjoyed the lobster dish too. I have no recollection of my dessert but suspect it was cake based. Liv had the chocolate cake and Bill declined and then we both had some coffee.

After dinner we had a stroll around and Livi had a couple of photos taken before we headed to watch the evening show.

We sat with Ella’s family and we all enjoyed it. It was called Living in America and was the usual mix of singing, dancing and a guy doing some balancing which was quite a feat on a moving ship especially as the captain seemed to have upped the speed since we were out on the open sea! After the show the girls went back to the kids club until 10pm and we went and found a comfortable spot at the bar and had a wander round the casino and a go on some of the slot machines. Needless to say we didn’t win any jackpots!

We headed back to the cabin just after 10pm and Livi was there waiting for us. We all turned in shortly afterwards after a full and really enjoyable day. We found Wilson had left a little friend for us!



I was aware of the ship moving tonight as the speed really seemed to have increased. It wasn’t quite like I’d been catapulted into an episode of Deadliest Catch but I was aware of a lot more movement and I did wake up a couple of times in the night but went straight back off to sleep!

Thanks Joanne - it's frightening how quickly she's growing up but I guess it happens to the best of us! She didn't want me to post the last photo as she thinks it make her look like her head is on wrong!
