vegas & la sept 2010 DAY 2

SUE 44
CAROL 45
DAY 2 THURS 2ND SEPT

Has daft has this seams I kept waking during the night & bobbing out onto the balcony to see if the strip lights was still on. The last time was 5.30 & they were but the sun was just about to rise in the distance & I couldn't get back to sleep after that so got up & to my surprise carol was awake too I had a coffee ( I had brought a supply of tea/coffee from home but in the room you got sachets of Wolfgang puck filter coffee, never had any though)

At this hotel you get a complementary breakfast with Costa coffee every day so we decided to see what was on offer
Today was toast, cereals, doughnuts fruit cottage cheese boiled eggs.. There wasn't much variety but what they had was plentiful & fresh.
The menu varied each day some times it was bagels then English muffins or waffles you could have has much has you wanted
We had toast & fruit juice then a small doughnut.. This was the last time we ate at the dining hall. Everyday after I would go & bring us some bread to toast back in the room with some coffee & fruit juices & a few other items it was nice to sit at our own table in our room or eat on the balcony(very civilised)

We strolled back to our room through the grounds

The thing you had to remember was your room key... All the blocks were separate from each other & all had there own secured doors, in fact you noticed security quite a lot around the area coming off the strip around Tropicana, hooters & our hotel it kind a made you feel safe.. Anybody who wasn't staying at our hotel couldn't get to any of the rooms, pool area or gym without a room key(unless someone held the door open for them)

9.30 by now & we were all set to explore it was going to be a hot one so we had creamed up packed up our little bag & we was off
First stop MGM for the monorail
It does really take you ages to get to it going through the hotel & towards the end of the holiday we found it was quicker to get to it through the area where the taxis pickup/drop off.
Got 2 tickets from the machine using our fx card all ok there.
We decided we was going all the way.. the platform was empty so we could sit anywhere we wanted . We took some video footage on our way marvelling at all the sites (truly amazing) you get to see the MGM pool area & a few others along the way.. People got on/off it was never full. Got off at the SAHARA

to get to the STRATOSHERE

Walking across the roads on our way you do notice that the streets are less kept up to & the shops are few & far between .
It took us about 10min to walk to the STRAT we made our way through the shops made a mental note of the price of the uGG boots in one of the shops(a present for carols daughter) bought our tickets to go to the observation deck $15.99 each into the lift we went . This in itself felt like a ride it went that fast your ears kept popping it took about 37 sec to get to the top.

It was so hot outside now we had a walk around saw people on the rides( sooner them than me ) they had guts I'll give them that.

The views was amazing you could see for miles totally clear day

we could see CIRCUS CIRCUS so decided that it didn't look that far we could walk to there then back onto the monorail on our way back down we called at Mc Donald's for a cold drink ( that was one of the best deals this holiday that you could get a large cold drink from most Mc'ds for $1.08 bargain)

We walked & walked the heat was unbearable & we can usually stand the sun so we called into our first CV's store for a cool down then onto CC again the casino feels just like all the rest more shops to go through we went to the Astrodome area lots of kids here walked around & decided to go on the roller coaster

we had to store our stuff in a locker $7 each to ride , it was ok but it didn't last very long

we were flagging now so made our way outside looked to see which way to get to the monorail either go back to the RIVIERA

or TI

Just in between was the convention centre so from the strip we could see down the rd to the convention centre, it looked walk able .. What must have been 30min later still walking we had to go around the corner to the monorail stop FINALLY shattered we got there. There was no seats , none of the drinks machines were working . We stood & suffered back to the MGM & our hotel

Back in our room we cranked up the air con sat under it for 15min decided to give the managers special a miss (that's something the hotel puts on mon-thurs5-7pm just some snacks & free drinks) we ate our left over Denny's burger & a doughnut for tea(all very healthy stuff )

After having a rest & a shower & change we was all set for going out again back on the monorail & off at the FLAMINGO

to get to the strip it was so overwhelming all the lights & sounds it was quite busy here & loud took more photos we decided to go to CEASERS PALACE

very impressive it was too. Went round all the forum shops

went into tiffany's (didn't buy anything )it was just like the photos we had seen of it with the make believe sky & the curving escalators.

we thought that we would have to walk all the way back to get out but we didn't we saw a sign saying TO THE STRIP so followed that outside again. We was peckish so ended up having a subway sandwich(pastrami ) didn't enjoy it.
By now it was 10.20 it had been a long tiring day so decided to make our way back to the m-rail to MGM again on our way through the hotel casino we noticed someone had left a bag with a framed photo inside so handed it to a cleaner who said "she couldn't accept it It must be handed to security" has luck would have it I noticed a security guard just over the way so strolled over to give him it, but then I noticed not one guard but several & the cops then I saw the crowd that was gathering around this woman on the slot machine ,first I thought she had taken poorly because they were putting her in this wheelchair . But she was struggling to get out that's when I noticed the hand cuffs on her & she was being arrested.. She kept asking what she was being arrested for. Lots of people were stood watching (dont know what she was in trouble for...

It was now 12.25 am so tired was even falling asleep writing my diary
What will tomorrow bring ...

OOOOOH

Keep on with the trippy!

You were there when we were (Dumb and Dumber)!

And you are in Florida when I am next !

And you are from Yorkshire!

And we like each others trippies!

Haven't had time to do next lot too busy battling with snow.

Keep on with them sometimes I think people dont get the Northern sense of fun! !

I'll look at yours if you look at mine

Oh my goodness what a tiring day! We were fooled by thinking we could easily walk to places on the strip from the Stratosphere, it is so deceiving from way up high.
Great photos again

We were there in November, we stayed at Caesars, it took us 35 min to walk through Forum and casino to our room - exhausting.

Like you, we thought everything looks so close and we could walk there - bit mistake, by third day my legs ached. And did you think that a lot of people shuffled instead of walked, we called in Vegas legs syndrome.

I wish I had bought Uggs, nice biker style ones were $199, same ones in Uk £299! Rip of Britain.

Enjoying your trippie.

Can I join in the Yorkshire Club please. I'm from Leeds originally and DD now lives in wakefield

Do I qualify

What a long day, you must have been shattered! We haven't been there for 10 years I'm guessing a lot changed, I dont remember a monorail, sounds like you had a lot of fun
