Vegas & la sept 2010 day 14
DAY 14 TUES
OUR LAST FULL DAY 7.30 got up early to go for a sun lounger for some last min rays By 2.30 we had come back in & packed somehow we managed to get it all in.. We wanted to take clares Ugg boots home in the proper box even though she said she wasn't bothered so we left that to one side we always carry one of those little scales that you dangle your cases on, we find them pretty accurate our hand luggage was coming out to be 1kg over having to wear my new converse pumps that I got in LA for the journey home or at least till we have cleared customs then I can change to my flip flops & put my pumps in the hand luggage .. We have it all worked out.. We have our 2 cases to check in a piece of hand luggage each plus a handbag each plus clares boots in the box plus a small carrier with some goodies to eat on the plane if we get through check in without paying any excess I will be amazed .. We put all our unused vouchers that we printed off & picked up from the shopping mall on a table on our landing for someone else to benefit from .. They were all gone when we got back to the room later that night By 4.30 we were all washed & ready to go out for our last look at the strip we found an easier way to get into the MGM from our hotel & went straight for the monorail station bought a ticket each $12we had to put $30 in the ticket machine & all the change came out in $1 coins, saved most of them to bring home (sad I know) got off at the IMPERIAL PALACE had a look around this hotel because we first was going to stay here ( I personally didn't like the look of it ) There wasn't many hotels that you could access the rooms unless you were a guest this hotel wasn't one of those so we rode up in the lift to see if there was any landing windows you could maybe see a different look of the strip from.. There wasn't so we went back down made our way through HARRAS had a go on the slots but didn't win maybe that's because we still don't know how to play them (told you we were useless at gambling) Walked to the venetian ( now this is a nice hotel) it has the wow factor & I think because of the time of evening it was the pictures picked up the feel of the place it did look stunning it had a warmth about it. In the distance the MIRAGE volcano show was going off & managed to get it on video from another prospective again the views were amazing lots of photo opportunities here & that was only the outside of the building .. We watched people on the gondolas being serenaded . Inside it was very much like ceasers palace We walked around the shops again bought a few items some silk purses & some chocolate from the shop Godiva (which we ate when we came home & wasn't anything special for the price). By now we were feeling peckish so stopped off at Denny's cause it was the closest. We only had to wait 5min for a table we shared a sandwich & a portion of fries with cheese & bacon Not bad but the cheese is very sickly after a few bites, we finished off with a desert called pancake puppies which were basically small round doughnut balls with cookies & cream inside them, it took ages for them to come & when they did come we just sat & looked at them... They were burnt nearly black & looked nothing like the picture other people looked over at the table cause we just looked at them & laughed, called the waitress over & said do you not think these look slightly over cooked she said no they looked perfectly ok to her so I showed her the photo on the menu & said they were a light colour there & these were dark, she said that was the pieces of cookies inside... She wasn't about to change them she was way too busy to stand & discuss our desert so off she went for some reason we didn't take a pic of them, I think had they been cooked properly they would have been very nice. We didn't leave her a big tip that night. From there we made our way over to Treasure Island to see the Sirens show we had a wait of about 30min but we did have a front row view (of one side of the show anyway) now again I was disappointed with this show too it was all about the women in tight shorts dancing around the stage we didn't get a good view of the pirates. I think where you get to stand its one side or the other the sirens or the pirates when the canons went off it made all the babies cry out but you cant really complain its all free. We waited a while after the show finished to let all the crowd disperse to make our way for the monorail via mc d's for a cold drink Back at the hotel on the news it said that Clinton was in town, hope there are no delays at the airport We have $180 of our spends left just got to get a taxi back to the airport & save some in case we have to pay for our luggage being over Off to bed for the last time Our journey home 2moro Night night
