Has it really been 8 years - The day before.

Trip Index

Thursday 2nd August – The day before.

After nearly 2 years of saving and planning today was the day we could say “we are going to Florida tomorrow”.

Our friend at BA who got our tickets for us, told us that because they were Hotline tickets if we missed our flight that would be it, they wouldn’t put us on another flight. We only live about an hour away from Gatwick, but if there is an accident on the M25 that could stop us making our flight. That in mind we thought it would be best to book into a hotel the night before just to be on the safe side.
We chose the Premier Inn Manor Royal their reviews on Trip Advisor were pretty good so we booked a family room and breakfast for the next morning.

We loaded the car with the luggage and left by 3 pm.

It was a pretty uneventful trip tbh no traffic problems, we had decided to do early bag drop to make it easier in the morning, we had never done this before. So before heading to the Premier Inn we headed to the north terminal instead. We parked at the short stay car park and went to the BA desks at departures. A really nice guy took our luggage and that was that, really easy and all done in 5 mins.
Off to the Prem Inn we went, we checked in with no problem and set off to look at the room. It was clean tidy and the beds very comfortable, we were all really impressed.

We had already decided to have something to eat at the Toby Carvery which is just down the road, we were seated after a few mins and the usual food onslaught started. The food was good and the yorkie puds where massive!
A trip to Sainsburys on the way back and a stop at the park so the boys could burn off some energy, before heading back to the Prem Inn to have a drink at the bar. The drinks were pretty expensive tbh but we didn’t want to go to bed too early, with 4 in the room it could get a bit fraught.
The boys seemed to take an age to go to sleep I guess it was all the excitement.

WE ARE GOING TO FLORIDA TOMORROW!

i know what you mean about being close to Gatwick (live down the road from you in Emmer green) but just a little traffic can cause massive delays! we are having the what time shall we leave dilemma.
