East AND West is Best: Day 4 - More Shopping, More Theatre

Right-ho - looks as if the IT gremlins have struck, as the reports I had for days 3 and 4 in Word are now unaccessable as I am getting a message that it needs the key to set MS Office up - which is on a Word file! Also unable to upload any photos at the moment, but will get some included asap.

So, I will give a brief summary of the days from Day 3 onwards, and hopefully manage to get the reports back up sooner rather than later. Here goes!

Day 4: More Shopping, More Theatre

Another sunny day greeted us this morning. Joanne had suggested last night that as we may not be returning to NY for some time that we see if we could get tickets for another show. Chicago was decided on, so after breakfast we headed on the Subway down to Fulton Street and a walk across to the TKTS booth at South Street Seaport as this opens 3 hours earlier than the Times Square location, and the queues are shorter. Only a 30 minute wait and we had balcony tickets, row B.

So then it was back up to 59th on the subway for more shopping, this time H&M being the target. A suitably long (from the male point of view) time was spent in there, plus a few other shops, but not Hollister as I understand I have that delight to come when we arrive in California!

With shopping completed, a walk back down 5th Avenue to 42nd and back to the hotel for snacks, drinks and change.

6pm sees us heading back out. Dinner tonight was to be at Cosis, as it is fairly quick service, we like the food, and hopefully we won't feel as rushed as we did in Chevvys. The first location we came to was closing, so we ended up at 46th St, which only had one table taken but we ventured in anyhow. Food was good for a "fast food" type establishment - we had a Flatbread Pizza, Cuban Melt and Tuna Melt plus two drinks and chips crisps in the Queens English!) - for under $30.

Suitably refreshed, we then had an hour before the show so had a wander around Times Square (very busy), and arrived at the theatre around 7:40pm. Seats were in quite a good spot, as previously mentioned row B on the balcony although over to the left of the stage. Again, the performance was excellent, and again I really enjoyed it. The only downside was that being an older establishment, the legroom in the seats was minimal, a bit like the Palace in Manchester.

The show finished just before 10pm, and we were planning to visit Juniors for a slice of cheesecake, However, Juniors was crammed (unsurprisingly with it being a Saturday), so we headed back to the Hyatt and a call at a cupcake shop next door where we had 6 mini versions in lieu of our cheesecake.

And with that, bed beckoned...

Open Office will open your word files, and its free

Or if you have a google account, Google Drive will do it as well (but you have to upload the files to Google for that)

Bev - thanks for the suggestion. I had already tried to upload this programme, but I suspect the limitations with the free Wi-Fi are the cause of it freezing when I am trying to upload. Fingers crossed, I will recover days 3 and 4 (plus photos) when we move on to Anaheim!

Open Office is a huge file to download over free wifi. You might have better luck with Google Drive as you'd only need to upload the one file you need to read.
