Surprise Second Helpings August 2013 Day 14: Shop till you drop and Applebees

The previous day is HERE

Sunday 1st September

There was only one thing on the plan today, shop, shop and more shop.

Yep, shop till ya drop.

Making the most of the Labor Day sales .

The boys were wildly enthusiastic and wanted to be left at home but we felt we couldn’t do that for a whole morning and convinced them that it would be a really fun time and that they might pick up some bargains too

So we were up and out for Outlet opening around 10. We passed the Outlets at Vineland and the cars were queuing for quite some way.

This didn’t bode well but on arriving at the Outlets at International Drive , there were loads of spaces and it was possibly the most empty we had seen it – which most definitely wasn’t the case when we left.

And that was pretty much it, we came , we shopped, we dropped.

Just before 2pm we had exhausted ourselves and the available funds so called it a day , taking our haul home with us

Some of the goodies included ( as laid out when we got home to see what had survived the trip)….

A selection of Lacoste Bags

These were so cheap – the blue bag was $33, the black one $23, the green one $40 – ridiculous. I also got the Mandarina Duck umbrella for $18 – I should have bought more as Xmas presents in hindsight

Xmas Decs from the Disney Character Warehouse

The big trees were $15, the bauble sets $10 each

And more clothes than you could shake a stick at ( and what a stupid saying that is !)

The Lacoste clothes had anywhere between 40-75% off the already reduced prices

As you can see we laid out our haul when we got home and I had the joy of ironing it all. And you can also see our black tiles as a result of the drama last Christmas !

The boys picked up jeans and t shirts and another Lotso was purchased

Remember when I said we had loads of room in the cases, ahem , it all turned into a bit of squeeze.

Because of course, no trip would complete without the human milliepede adding some more trainers to his collection ………

These were so cheap it was bonkers – the Loafers were from Tommy Hilfiger and were something daft like $25. The red David Beckham adidas trainers ( the ones without the stripes) were $15

Truly, the prices were mad , its just a shame we ran out of energy - or maybe not given how close we were to luggage limits the next day

All this though meant that no one felt like venturing to DTD for the Dibb Meet – even the lure of Disney Quest wasn’t enough for the boys who just wanted to go home and laze around . So that’s exactly what we did .

I know we had lunch at the Foodcourt because I ordered a 5 Guys burger which was delicious but took a week to be ready and the others had finished off their Subways quite some time before I came back with mine . I must have had that end of holiday depression setting in though as I didn’t take any pics.

We had some time at the quiet pool and also caught the end of another baseball game.

Just before 6 we set off for some dinner , hoping to then go on to Seaworld for Shamu rocks .

Andy decreed that dinner tonight could only be in one place

Don’t ask !

On the way we saw dark clouds ahead

Which just didn’t bode well for later

After all the mocking of my road sign photos, Andy insisted I take this one

$3.46 for a gallon of petrol – makes you want to weep

Into good old Applebees then where we had a mountain of food

We had a voucher for a free appetizer so we got two lots of boneless wings $19.18 but with $9.59 discount

They were nice

Connor then had more wings for his main ( looked the same as above)

Jamie had a turkey , bacon , cheese melt with fries $9.49

Sorry about the pic, definitely lacking in enthusiasm by now

I had a trio $13.59

~Sliders, chicken tacos and more boneless wings ( I had meant to order the pretzel thing but had wings on the brain and ordered them by mistake)

I have to say, it was all delicious

Andy had a rack of ribs $18.99

The total bill with lots of drinks was $88 .

A real feast – I think Applebees is ok Andy loves it and somehow its become a last night tradition , I don’t know why.

The rain had been coming down intermittently and whilst it wasn’t raining when we left, no one could face the prospect of going to Seaworld. I think we had all reached that horrible “ going home tomorrow” feeling and just wanted to get tucked up in the villa .

A final lazy night, all feeling a bit sad that we leave tomorrow

Wow that is some haul, Amanda, especially the array of shoes.

Wings wings and wings at Applebee's! We have never been, as yet, usually Bahama breeze or Cheesecake Factory call to us for the final supper!

And btw, the black tiles look fab!

Awesome shopping effort there! Did really well with all the bargains.

We love an applebees visit, cheap cheerful and usually decent food (not to mention those often 2 for 1 cocktails )

I thought we did well on shopping days, but you definitely beat us! Loads of stuff there, and some really good bargains too

I love Applebees, we went there loads on our last trip... and I feel your pain with the end of holiday blues
