Snow White gets her Prince - Day 13 - Aquatica and Boma
Day 12 can be found here Day 12
Today we were off to Aquatica so I had to put in contact lenses as last time I went to a water park I couldn’t see anything all day and it was a horrible feeling. I haven’t had contacts for long and have only put them in and out a handful of times so it was interesting this morning. I ended up putting them in the wrong eye! I finally managed to get them both in and I’m glad I persevered. We got the shuttle to Aquatica at 8.45am. It didn’t take as long as we thought and were told and we were at Aquatica by 9.10am including transfer from Seaworld. The park didn’t open til 10am so we had a bit of a wait. The bag checks were in direct sunlight so we held back by the ticket huts for as long as we could. Just before it opened the national anthem started to play. We went straight to the locker area. We rented a longer locker for $12 and two towels at $4 dollars each. You get $5 back for the locker. Neither matt nor I had our wedding rings on today and Matt said it felt weird already without it on. We headed straight for the two raft rides – Wallhalla Wave and Hooroo Run and we were the first people on of the day. Wallhalla Wave Hooroo Run We really had a great time here and highly recommend the park. Even the food was a welcome change to other park food. We especially loved the Roa Rapids with the life jackets. The first time we went round without life jackets as we didn’t realise why people were wearing them but the second time round we grabbed some jackets and were blasted around by the water jets. It was so much fun and we went round a few times. You had to be careful not to get blasted into other people. There were lots of kids zooming past as they were so light. Matt had to grab and pull me out on one trip round as I zoomed past the exit hehe. It was such a laugh. Im off! I found a jet Holding on so I don’t float off hehe So much fun. Thumbs up! Before lunch we went for a dip in the wave pool I’m not sure which ride it was on but Matt and I were in a double ring and at the bottom there was a spray of water so I stupidly let go of the ring and covered my eyes to stop anything happening to my contact lenses and next thing I know I was propelled off the ring, head first into the water hehe. So much for worrying about a few drops of water! Matt was filming us going down this ride and the video is so funny! One minute I’m there and then I’m not and there is a big splash hehe. Matt enjoys telling everyone that story hehe. We saw someone in a shower cap while we were there and some families were fully clothed in the water! We didn’t end up going on the flumes with the dolphins as you are only going through the pool for a few second s and the dolphins spent most of their time entertaining the visitors by the viewing area. Also divers went in to feed and check them over a few times while we were there so the dolphins were very much in one area. There were different birds and animals around the park. These parrots said hello to us as we walked by. We made Wallhalla Waves our last ride of the day. A man asked to join us as he was on his own and it was a lot faster with another person in the raft so we had a fun last ride. While waiting for the shuttle back from SeaWorld I had another coughing fit which was quite embarrassing as everyone was watching me. I ended up burning the tops of my feet but didn’t realise until later in the evening. At least it got rid of my flip flop marks I was starting to get. With my feet in and out of the water it was something I couldn’t prevent Tonight we had a reservation at Boma. This was a late addition to our trip and we are so glad as this is now one of our favourite places. We had a really friendly bus driver to AKL. We were the only ones on the bus. I unfortunately had another coughing fit on the bus. This time I had no water Matt has started coughing but only in the evenings, aren’t we a pair! We got to AKL at 6.30pm and went to the outlook to see if we could see any animals and then had a quick look round the shop. We checked into Boma at 7.20 but we were not seated until 8pm. Matt ended up going up to them and telling them that people who arrived after us went in before us, they apologised and all of a sudden they had a seat for us. I think they forgot us I was looking forward to trying the Durban chicken as my friend Trevlyn is from Durban. The food was amazing and we were so full! I would highly recommend Boma. You can see Matt had his appetite for desserts back here We had a lovely server who bought us some free chocs at the end We went to look through the shop again and we finally managed to buy stamps for our postcards. We bought a few Disney board games while we were here also. I enjoyed the slower pace of today, I think we have chosen well for pace for the few days after our wedding as we needed the rest. I would highly recommend Aquatica, we had a blast! I was cold at times as there was a breeze but it was a great day. We now have a new favourite restaurant in Boma too. Apart from my cough there weren’t really any bad points to the day.

Aquatic sounds like a lot of fun. It's not fair that you manage to continue to look great in photos even in a water park though!
Glad you eventually got seated at Boma and that it was worth the wait.

We went to Aquatica on Christmas Day 2008 and I still remember how much fun Roa's Rapids are. I'd like to get back there one day.
How awful you had your coughing fits again.
