Day Seventeen- Kanab to Vegas, Desert Rose Resort

Coasts, Canyons and Deserts, August 2013

Day Seventeen- Kanab to Vegas, Desert Rose Resort

Apologies for the severe time delay in writing the end of this report.I have, again, been very busy sorting two trips this year and have been somewhat sidetracked.
However my ordered planning mind will no longer push aside the guilt of not completing this trip report so I shall try and finish it off with the dedication of the previous days and with a mind to how helpful I find everyone else's trip reports.

I can then also start the other two!

So we had a minor interruption with the electricity in the night, see day 16!

We felt rather lazy in the morning and sat out side in those lovely sixties chairs and partook of the free continental breakfast from the great remodeled lobby.

We then left our little hotel and decided on the fast, flat route back to Vegas. We stopped in St George for a Coffee and found the compact "Outlets at Zion" and had a little shop in Ralph, Del Sol, had got some great barrettes and T shirts re Disney that light up in the sun.

Also a little bit of baby shopping in Osh Kosh sales for great nieces and nephews. The Outback was open so we headed to the end of the shops and had our first Outback of the hols, cheaper there then when we got to Vegas! A great early lunch.

Stopped at Walmart too for some soda etc. and then also bit the Premium Outlet, North Vegas and liked them a lot. It was bit busy as it was a Sunday but as Daytonababe says, familiar. We hit Converse and got DS a Quicksilver Jkt for $25! We also got a few good bits at the Disney Outlet, nightie, T's and more children shopping!

We then made our way to the Desert Rose Resort. This location is great; just behind Hooters and the Trop and you walk around the corner to the intersection of NY, NY, MGM, Trop and Excalibur.

We unpacked and loved the one bedroom little suite; balcony, bedroom, huge sink, small bathroom. Full kitchen with everything and a full table, chairs and lounge.

Please excuse all our shopping!

For $ 370 it was great value for four nights. It includded a free breakfast; two hot items a day, bread, jam, four cereals, 3 juices and Starbucks coffee and there are four laundrys. Washes are only $1.25 and dry $1, good dryers too.It did get a bit packed at breakfast and there are no trays so you cannot go too mad. I used the picnic boxes Parisdisneyfan (Julia) had given me to take cereal and bread back to the room some days. I also took the coffee jug from the machine and filled it with the coffee.DS didn't really want to get up for the next four days and that was fine, last few days to rest am!

We walked to Hooters hotel.

The DS and a "little" burger, again and we had a little snack of wings

DS has found his new home.

And DH was quite pleased too, he fell sideways!

This would be a great place for a young group to stay; great cheap food, fun pool with music and less intimidating than some strip casinos for a first time gambler.

There was some interesting decor!

Had an early night and a swim. The Chaise lougue type thing in the lounge proved very useful as DS slept on that every night rather than pull out the sofa, we just popped a sheet on it.

Good first night and we slept well!

It really was. Not fancy but so much room and great if your are with kids, they also have two bed apartments.

Thanks for rejoining me after all this time!

Great to see someone else has stayed at the Desert Rose. When we original booked the hotel including free breakfast which was one of the reasons we booked it.
I later found out they had stop this as of January. We cancelled it for free and book again and got it £50 cheaper! We can now put that money towards buying in food.
I was getting a little worried reading the reviews of Trip Advisor. The hotel standards seem to have drop a little since another company took over it. But from your pictures it looks great. 18 days to go!

I was very impressed with the food, service and value here. It doesn't look like the poshest of places but don't let that out you off.

You will love it, great little Oasis we thought. Just does get busy around the pool.

Top shopping and great accommodation there. Lol, my lot really like Hooters, can't think why, the food seemed a bit average to me ... Must be something else !
