Chazy & Ben Go Back To The West Coast - San Diego Zoo & San Diego Old Town Thurs 11th Sept
We both woke about 7 and headed to breakfast just after 8. Breakfast was complimentary continental at the hotel and consisted of toast, fruit and coffee or orange juice.
We got on a bus just after 9am - Bus number 7 from Broadway & 5th Avenue. We weren't sure if we would know where to get off at but once you're on park bl you can't miss zoo pl as there's a big sign for the zoo on your left! Today the hours are 9am 6pm. We get into the zoo about half 9, grab a map and head straight for the pandas passing a few animals! We grab a refillable drink ($5.61) and continue to walk through the zoo.# Just before 2pm we decide we've done so we just make it onto a bus back to Gaslamp. We go back to the hotel to freshen up and head to old town at 4pm via the trolley. We arrived in Old Town around half 4. The first shop we popped into the kind lady gave us a map and dining guide when I asked for more information. As we hadn't eaten since breakfast we stopped for dinner at Old Town Mexican Cafe. Thanks Aims for the recommendation! Delicious warm tortilla chips were brought out to start. Ben had a beer and I had a coke. We shared the carnitas. It came to $45 including tips. We had a wander round stopping for a rainbow sorbet ice cream ($3.94) We got back on a trolley at about half 6. We had a brief rest and took a walk to the westfield shopping centre. We were back to the hotel about half 8, both absolutely exhausted! |

Wow, you got a lot packed in to one day! Glad to see you've already got the hang of the public trans system. You got some great pics at the zoo. Dinner at Old Town looked good too- love carnitas!
