I bought a Panasonic sound bar from Argos , it just sits in front of your TV on the telly stand with no problems and does have a far better sound than the TV.

I'm glad you started this thread, I have exactly the same problem. If Bose is the way to go I'd better start saving !

Not got a Bose soundbar as we bought a curved Samsung tv so bought the curved Samsung soundbar to go with it. Makes a huge difference to the sound quality especially with the sub woofer when watching movies.
We really liked the quality of sound from the Bose soundbar when we where buying but decided on having the curved to match and glad we did.

We had Bose surround sound but it's quite old now so just after Christmas we bought an LG sound bar to go with our LG telly and it's great. It is fixed onto the wall and has a wireless sub woofer that sits on the floor

Great to hear this as we bought the same just after Christmas. We're fixing it to the chimney breast so this means redecoration - can't wait for it all to be done

Nice! It looks great when it's up. Needs dusting a lot though as that material just attracts it lol

No need to go Bose, they do not come out well on reviews. There are better ones out there. whathifi/products/home-cinema/soundbars

We have a Sonos Playbar on our tv. Good sound and even better watching a movie.

DS has a Sonos Play 1 for his room but occasionally will bring it down to the living room and it is then a second speaker for the tv.

There is an app which is on my ipad and DS's phone which we can control the sound from (for both speakers or individually). I also have spotify and play it through the soundbar when doing my housework.

I would eventually like to add a sub and possible a couple of play 1's.

There are audio options at different cost levels.
If you have got the money for Bose, you can get a MUCH better system for the same money - e.g. Monitor Audio. Some like Kef (I personally don't)
Suggest you visit your local Richer Sounds store and have a listen to systems at different prices.
TBH, all new TVs have absolutely rubbish sound due to the space constraints and even purchasing a fairly cheap amp/speaker system will give a MASSIVE improvement.
