Las Vegas - We're coming back! Pre Travel Day.
Pre travel day – Tuesday 24th March 2015
Index is here Pre Trip is here As usual, most of my pre travel day was spent at work I’m always short on annual leave so can’t spare an unnecessary day off. I did however have a ½ hour lunch and together with another ½ hour owed I managed to escape at 4pm instead of 5pm! Bonus. Aaron had worked the previous night so had spent most of the day sleeping but by the time I got home he was up and about finishing the last bit of packing so I joined in and we headed round to collect Laura. She only lives a few roads away so by 4.30pm we had waved goodbye to Aarons grandparents and were on the road! Not bad going. We had performed a dummy run with the suitcases a few days before as we knew it would be a tight squeeze, we just about manage it with my hold & cabin bags in the back with me! We were flying from Gatwick for the first time and had decided previously that we would break the journey up with a stop in High Wycombe as normal on our way to Heathrow, there is a TGI Fridays there and it’s usually a good one food & service wise. We pulled up at about 6pm after having a stress free journey; the roads were busy with it being rush hour but no major traffic. We were greeted and sat down straight away and the entire meal was fabulous. Our waiter was really good and the food better than usual. Spot on to our order, very hot and very tasty! I said I would drive the rest of the way to Gatwick as I could see Aaron eyeing up the cocktails. He had a Cherry Stag & Laura had a Mudslide whilst I stuck with Diet Coke. Food wise, we ordered 2 lots of the Jack Daniels chicken strips (one of which we had a voucher for) Then for mains, I had the Pulled Pork topped burger and swapped the chips out for garlic mash, Laura had the Jack Daniels chicken burger, also with mash & Aaron had the double glazed Jack Daniels burger with fries. We added onion rings for good measure! Aaron had another Cherry Stag at some point and we then went ahead and got a dessert to share between me & Laura, the brownie sensation. It was gooood! We paid the bill £74.77 and left a good tip. Ill note here that Laura is overly generous with me and Aaron when we eat out and normally insists on paying. To ensure this didn’t happen this trip (she would have ended up paying us back for the holiday) we put a rule in place that she could only pay a maximum of 1/3 of the bill. This normally worked out ok but we took less when she didn’t have cocktails and me & Aaron did. Over all it worked out really well Back on the road it took around an hour to reach the Premier Inn, we were staying at the A23 one and although it was literally across the road from the airport it was about £50 cheaper per room than the official onsite ones! Parking was about £10 if I recall which Laura covered. Check in was smooth and we were given rooms opposite each other. I was pleased as there was a bath. We watched a bit of TV, relaxed and then attempted some sleep at about 10.30pm Edited at 04:17 PM. |

It was really good this time around!
Prices have definitely gone up, tbh we hadn't been before this visit since our last visit on our way down to Heathrow last September. It was so good this time though we will probably start going again. Oh the MIL loves a mudslide, we had to talk her out of having the large one as she has dne that before and then not eaten her dinner! i swear she isn't the parent in this relationship! They are immense aren't they, especially when you have a free voucher! Thanks for reading |
