cyclops fabulous at 40 las vegas

OMG OMG WE GET TO GO!

All booked - just to pay for it now

i have as long as i can remember wanted to go to Las Vegas for my 40th birthday and around January this year it didn't look likely.

then suddenly with a bit of planning it is booked

25th February
DUB - JFK (3 hour stop over)
jfk - LAS (arriving around 18.30 local time)

and back on 1st March
LAS- JFK
JFK - DUB (arriving 09.30 on the second of March)

staying in the LUXOR for 5 nights

all booked with trailfinders in Dublin office

Now where do i start this pre trip?

it is hubby and I only. The last time we went abroad alone DS1 was 7years old. he will be nearly 20 by the time this happens. DS2 will be 7 (8 a few days after we come home)

We haven't told them yet. Lets get christmas over first.

I trawled through web sites, visited travel agents and set up a paper spread sheet looking for the best deals
Originally we had no dates in mind and I wanted to go UK - LAS

Bit by bit my requirements changed.
1)We needed to be here for DS2's birthday - 11th March
2)did not want more than 3 hours stopover
3)wanted to fly virgin
4)leaving from uk - so one big flight
5) less than €1500 for the two of us

hmmmm not looking as easy as planned

1) ds's birthday
2) less than 3 hours stop over nearly 4 on way home in JFK
3) flying virgin DELTA
4) leaving from UK nope
5) less than €1500 - nearly €1556

LET THE PLANNING BEGIN

THANKS FOR READING
ALL ADVICE WELCOME

now onto suitcases

1 large or 2 small?

we were originally thinking 1 large one... we have 25kg each flight each way so def big enough... but what about the shopping? and what about if it gets lost ... no ninnies for a week

now onto money

we are thinking about $2000? would that be enough for the five days? we plan to get $40 per week by cutting out on friday night sessions lol
that should give us over $1000 without too much stress to be honest. $500 from the weeks usual spends (promise to leave the kids food) and not too much to save after all that. would that be enough do you think?
hope to see a show one night - big one
maybe sigfried and roy too
want to visit the secret garden, zip line down fremont street

prob give ourselves $40 per day to gamble

Cheesecake factory is in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.
2 Outbacks on Strip. One near the Coke Bottle, MGM Grand way and one in Casino Royale. (I think there's one by the South Outlets as well)
