Tuscan Hills - why lots of Police ?
Hi
We have been to various communities for the same length of time (6 weeks) - and have never ever seen a sheriff vehicle on the community. Right now there are flashing lights directly behind our villa on the road behind. Our next door neighbour knocked on our door 3 weeks ago extremely upset as she found 2 guys in her back yard/pool area - she had phoned the police but they hadn't turned up yet. Last Saturday afternoon on the grassy area in front on some houses in Brunello Drive the police had 2 ladies sat on the floor - have no idea why. We have regularly seen cars patrolling the estate - really surprising as on Sunset Lakes / Emerald Island etc we have never ever seen a car on those estates. Now some may say that this is a good thing and should make us feel safe - but there seems to be lots of activity. Have we just "missed" the police patrols on other estates ? Have you seen lots of Police on communities you have stayed in ? Dave Edited at 02:39 AM. |

Its mainly day times (apart from this evening) - lots of sirens - but I think that's with being so close to US27 - which there is not a lot you can do about that.
Are you on Brunello ? we only drive up the road to exit the resort and haven't had a look around any other roads - so I can only speak for Brunello. It may very well be that they patrol all the communities - and that we have just not seen them in the past. Dave |

As far as I am aware, Tuscan Hills does not have off-duty police or security patrols, but I may be wrong.
Some communities contractually hire either off duty police officers and their vehicles or private security with licenced and trained officers, so you will see vehicles regularly patrolling those streets. Sometimes you might see a significant presence if there has been specific intel on an area that law enforcement are observing and/or responding too. It may be for a variety of reasons. Communities without off-duty or private security are still served by the LE department of that jurisdiction so you may see them cruising or parked up. Like most LE agencies throughout the world, they are understaffed and this could be why it took so long for them to respond to your next door neighbour. If you see a private security company, that doesn't necessarily mean that the area is suffering a lot of crime. Private security patrols offer a myriad of services to home owners including upholding the deeds and covenants of the community such as parking and trash issues to keep the community looking nice. High visibility patrols deter crimes, gathers intel and even acts as a friendly concierge. |

I believe so... I was talking to our "new" neighbours yesterday who said the sirens were driving them mad - I think we must have just switched off from them. They went to the reception to ask about the sirens and were told of the fire station.
Back in the UK we live less than half mile from a police station and regularly hear sirens day and night - so i guess we have a tolerance to them. We did notice them at the beginning - but after a few days we switched off. Dave |

Our communities pay for the sheriff to patrol the whole estates within Legacy Park, it's a deterrent

We have stayed at Tuscan Hills many times over several years and have never seen any police activity. Usually a very quiet area.

In the States when a 911 call is received all squad cars within a reasonable distance will descend. Also they do not to switch off the blue lights when in attendance.

Think you have to remember as well that fire engines are dispatched not only for fire over there. Saw a fire engine once outside Michael's at Posner Park came in with sirens going and flashing lights to attend to a lady who had fallen and cut her knee. They do like their flashing lights and sirens. The sheriff can also be called out if a monitored burglar alarm goes of and guest often set them off by accident. So if you are near a fire station you will hear lots of sirens and Tuscan Hills is on to a main roadway the US27.
Our community is patrolled 24/7 a private security firm with cars that look just like the sheriff. They help maintain peace and quite on the community and provide peace of mind. I have twice left the car door lying wide open with the interior lights on and only because the security had been driving past and noticed both times coming to the door to alert us did we not go out to a flat battery.
