So Cal Road Trip – Highs and Lows

Highs

Flights, A380 is a fab plane, Club World makes a huge difference, reward flights great, maybe our last time! Still collecting points but it’s hard going.
The Westin Mission Hills Golf and Spa Resort at Palm Springs – wonderful resort. We probably did not have enough time to enjoy it fully.
Listening to Country Music channels on the radio when driving – I love US Modern Country.
Shopping – although not so good at around $1.43, shopping is still good in the US.
Solvang – beautiful place. Then Los Olivos – a real western type town.
Just about everything. Really enjoy the beaches in California, but enjoyed everything.
And of course the Cheescake factory.

Lows
Grey May weather in San Diego – although we still really enjoyed our time there – I think maybe if we had planned on grey days to go inland a bit – we would have found the sun. We were luckier than some other Dibbers who were there before us.
Seeing the amount of Homeless people everywhere we went.
My photos – have never taken my DSLR due to bulk. Usually have a bridge camera, never took it this year – took the superzoom contact, but missed not being able to look through a viewfinder in bright sunlight, most times could hardly see the LCD screen. Some thinking to be done for future holidays.
Edited to add - driving through all that lovely wine country and not being able to sample the produce!

That’s our second year in a row to California. We don’t usually holiday every year, but next year are planning Florida – with family.
We will return to California again, that’s definite – and Arizona – I want to see Yosemite and the Grand Canyon, and a little more of the national parks.
So it’s probably going to be goodbye to West Coast Planning Forum and hello again to Florida planning, but it’s been fun!

Thanks for the comments.
I have never heard of Monument Valley so that's another one for me to look at.
We are so glad we never baled out of San Diego after our first full day - which we were really going to do. Even with the not so great weather, we still really enjoyed it.
Other Dibbers who were there before us got worse weather than us in San Diego.

Trip Reports - I never really know whether to do one - but have learned so much from the reports posted by others - and I intend to merge all mine from previous holidays into a big PDF file or slideshow or something - when I get around to it!
I must admit I do enjoy going back and reading them myself - great memories as the years go by!

Oh definitely do the trip reports!
Your last trip report helped me so much to plan our trip earlier this year, for instance I'd never heard of the Ariel Tramway before I read your report!

Oh and Monument Valley - have a look at 'The View' hotel, we're booked in there for our trip to Utah's Mighty 5 next year. Has amazing views of rock formations called The Mittens. Excellent for star gazing too so I hear!

The only place to stay for sure is the View hotel and definetely a Navejo Indian tour,we did a horseriding and jeep tour it was such an amazing experience, well worth every penny.

It's thanks to your trip report that we visited the Aerial Tramway at Palm Springs in October and that was another fabulous day the views were spectacular.
