Booking flights for an unborn

Hi, I'm looking at booking my flights shortly and online you have to put in name and dob, but how can I do this if my baby isn't born until next year, also I will be after a skycot, do you have to pay to pre book your seats before you call and reserve the skycot.

You don't book their ticket until they are born. All the major airlines say book your ticket and then when the baby is born and has a confirmed name and dob just ring them and they will add the infant at the agreed rate (often 10%).

Did this with AA (via BA) this year.

I've done this twice now and have added them on once born for a very low fare. I have never been able to book a skycot in advance and have always had to go down the allocated at the airport route. This is for the reason that it depends on how many infants are on the flight and their ages, the youngest get priority on skycots. We have never had a problem though and the family has always sat together.

We booked online then phoned the airline immediately afterwards to say that we would also have an infant with us. They made a note of this on our booking and just asked us to cal, once the baby was born with their details. (We phoned them and checked all this out before we made the online booking).
