Hello
We are flying this route in August this year with the a similar connection time, so would great if you could post how it went for you, just as a heads up you probably know this but the plane that does this trip, does not have any seat back TV's and not sure it even has streaming to your own personal device, it has the old overhead screens, with you going with your grand children this could be a shock when you get on board. Thanks |

We flew that same route last July. We had about 2.5 hrs to do the outbound connection in theory.
Unfortunately we were notified (via the American Airlines app) that our outbound flight from Manchester was delayed. The delay grew until it told us we would miss our connection - it then prompted us to book onto a later flight from Philly. We eventually got to Orlando about 3.5 hrs late and didn't get to our resort until nearly midnight. Flight back was fine. Aircraft was quite good and staff/food/entertainment pleasant enough. For us though the delay was quite tiring and I don't think I would want to fly indirect again. |

Flew with AA/BA this route in 2017. Had 2hrs and just barely made it - had no time to stop at the airport even for a loo break. The main issue was that the Manchester flight was late. Connection security screening also had quite a queue. It all depends on the day but in theory you should be fine. Have a great holiday!

We did this route last Easter with 1hr 30 connection on inbound journey and was fine.
American Airlines were great, lovely planes and food good. Philly Airport also excellent. We went with kids, 7 and 4, and may end up doing same route next time. Have a great time. |

Hi Swintonlad
Hope you had a good trip Just wondered how you got on a Philly Airport and what was the plane from Man-Phil like, also AA have cut our transfer time on the return leg to 45 mins which seems very tight but do you think this is doable Thanks |

45 mins for a domestic to international connection at PHL is doable, though obviously no real contingency for delays on the domestic. Everything is airside in one big building and you can just walk from one "terminal" (really just gate concourses) to another.
Most AA mainline domestic flights will arrive into B or C gates, American Eagle may use F gates, which will be the longest distance. The international flight will almost certainly depart from the A gates (East or West). Regarding your connection time, 45 mins can be a legitimate connection time for AA at PHL, but there can be different minimum connection times, depending on the flight combinations. You would normally be rebooked if you go below MCT, but it can take some time for the airline to work through the bookings. If you're concerned about it, it may be worth a call to AA (or your travel agent if you didn't book direct) to enquire about moving to an earlier flight, should that suit you. Of course, if your travel date is still some way away, there could be more changes of schedule. Edited at 10:15 AM. |
