Holiday Cancellation - TUI
Has anybody had any experience with TUI and the cancellation of their holiday. Were you able to transfer it into other names?
I have had a steep learning curve with regard to this holiday and I have learned a lot about travel insurance. It was right at the last minute a problem came to light that I had forgotten all about. We were due to fly out of Gatwick on 22nd May for two weeks on the Dreamliner staying at Rosen Inn Internation with transfer but cannot go now. We are having trouble speaking to somebody at Tui because their online help is constantly unavailable due to busyness. We have emailed them but it takes 72 hours for a response and their "instant" email address comes back undeliverable. My husband is going to ring at 9:00am, fingers crossed he gets through to somebody. There is definitely something to be said for booking through a travel agent and my personal experience definitely persuades me to do this in the future. Just wondered whether anybody else has been in this situation and can offer any advice. We understand fully that we are going to lose all our money we were very sad, but now just got to move on. Maybe we can sell it on I don't really know, but understand with just four days to go, probably too short notice for most. Sorry for this very bland and sad post. |

Sorry to hear you’re having to cancel. Depending on the reason tui may agree to credit the holiday, but won’t allow name changes unless one of the original party is still travelling. A friend of mine had to cancel last week and that’s what he was told.

You don’t say why you are cancelling but it’s worth phoning your insurance and seeing what they can do to help. TUI will allow different people to travel but one of the original party must remain.

Just a thought , remembering your previous posts about insurance have you tried a specialist insurer who might insure you, or even try to get a company who will insure for a single trip ? I'm guessing your problem is more to do with not being able to get insurance , if so there could be possibilities to salvage the holiday . Apologies if I'm barking up the wrong tree

If the insurance failed then you can take it further with the company
Though if it is something that you didn't declare to them when you bought it then they didn't fail.

Again if it’s because you can’t get insurance speak to a specialist not a web firm there are some of these guys in every town.
As far as using an agent I think the problem with the contact is not about not using an agent but by not using a major airline over the years we have had to moved one virgin flight because my sister came down from Leeds with no passport and there was no issue, cancel virgin flights as my mum (who was nit even travelling with us) was not well and got 100% back and BA moved some flights back when we found my wife to be pregnant. I have never had an issue contacting a major airline so don’t write it off. Anyway good luck and I hope things work out for you |

From reading your other threads on travel insurance / pre existing conditions and your son, I would suggest getting the diagnosis sorted and fully confirmed as there seems to be confusion, then you should be able to sort the insurance situation and be good to go, even if a quick private consulation which would be much cheaper than potentially losing your holiday. Explain to the consultant the situation and need for confirmed diagnosis that ties into the insurers requirements.
Don’t write it off just yet, I had an undiagnosed condition which wasn’t sorted until under a week before travel so I feel your nervousness and reluctance to continue. Once diagnosed insurance is then simple to sort (depending on severity of course). Edited at 09:54 AM. |
