Timeout's DIBB Photo Blogs

Sorry for the delay in getting this up. After the late night on Friday and then flying home Saturday evening time disappeared somewhat!

Anyway Saturday started with a final breakfast visit to Olivia's for breakfast.
We ordered
Buttermilk Pancakes and Eggs - Buttermilk Pancakes with Two Eggs-Any Style; choice of Bacon, Sausage, or Ham with Strawberry or Blueberry Sauce

I swapped my meat for potato.

Sombrero Beach Omelet - Ham, Green Peppers, Onions, and Cheddar topped with Sour Cream and Pico de Gallo. Served with Olivia's breakfast potatoes and a Buttermilk Biscuit

Waffle and Eggs - Waffles with Two Eggs-Any Style with choice of Bacon, Sausage, or Ham with Strawberry or Blueberry Sauce

Kids pancakes

A nice last breakfast. Sad to see it end!

We made our way to Disney Springs for our last few hours before being collected by the Magical Express.

We had a wander around and bought a couple of items but couldn't buy anything big as the cases were pretty full!

We had booked a late lunch at Raglan Road

We were given a large table but it didn't have a view of the stage which youngest was disappointed about. Our server here was great he was helpful and knowledgable.

He brought use the soda bread.

This is yummy!

For starters we ordered

Dalkey Duo - for sharing, Battered cocktail sausages with Dalkey mustard dipping sauce

The kids shared these and enjoyed them. They were meant to be shared between two so I ordered them for me and eldest to eat but I didn't eat any!
The mustard dipping sauce was really good too.

An Irish Egg - Guinness and onion sausage crusted egg, pickled cabbage, saffron aioli

Mum and hubby both had this and both enjoyed it, it looked really pretty when they cut into it.

For mains we had

The Big Q - red quinoa & white bean burger, Dubliner cheddar, grilled zucchini, herb aioli & tomato chutney on a wholegrain bun

Really good veggie burger, the best I've had for a while.

Pancetta & Chicken Sanger - chicken breast with crispy pancetta, Dubliner cheese served with lettuce, tomato and herb aioli

This was pretty big and had lots of chicken in it.

Fish & Chips - famous beer battered fish & chips served with our fresh tartar sauce

Mum really enjoyed this. Proper fish and chips!

Boaring burger- wild boar, blue cheese, onion straws

Hubby really enjoyed this, he rarely chooses a burger but this was a big hit with him.

Kids cheeseburger

Dunbrody Kiss - Chef Dundon's gift to America. Chocolate, add more chocolate, then add some more

Fluffy Lemon Clouds - Intense lemon curd tart topped with fluffy meringue

Dessert flight

Small versions of bread and butter pudding, lemon clouds, trifle and chocolate mousse.

This was huge and eldest really didn't have room to do it justice. Great option to try a lot of the desserts.

A great meal which was a big success and I'm so glad we chose to go here for our last meal.

And that dear reader is that, we didn't eat anything else after this until we got home late on Sunday afternoon!

Thank you to those who have commented and followed along. I will try to reply in the next day or so. The comments really did encourage me to write each day up .

We had some amazing meals and a couple of not so amazing but generally they were pretty good. We won't be returning for a few years but I feel like all my planning was worth it and we managed a good selection of different foods.

I'm happy to answer any questions that reading any of the days raises.

Thanks for reading, bye for now xxx

Eat and Play Card

Today we started our last full day ☹️ with a return visit to Trails End Buffet, those who have been along for the whole trip will know that 3 of us visited earlier in the trip, when we were deciding where to have breakfast today , youngest said that he wanted to go back on the boat to breakfast so that's what we did, also eldest and hubby hadn't visited so we thought they could try it.

We arrived on time (something we are getting worse at doing! ) and were shown to our table, our server was less friendly than our previous one and we wouldn't have known about moonshine juice if we hadn't visited before. We all ordered some and some coffee too and went to the buffet.
Some of our plates.

Hubby really didn't enjoy the breakfast hash but other than that it was ok. Not a great experience this time around but adequate. It just goes to show the difference a server can make to your meal.

We spent the rest of the in Magic Kingdom. We had some snacks along the way

Goofy glaciers

We were attending the Halloween party at MK tonight so had dinner booked before this started.
We were shown to a table in the Captains room which was very quiet.
Our server arrived with all the jokes which eldest loved.

We ordered drinks

Eldest had melon Fanta!

Eldest struggled with the spicy sauce on this. But enjoyed it when it ate around it!

This was very very tasty a great vegetarian meal

I commented when he ordered it that I hoped it didn't look at scary as the picture on the menu but it really was!

He said it tasted great though and enjoyed all of it

Mum enjoyed this it was interesting way to do a lasagna type dish using braised beef rather than minced. I think she might try and make it again at home!

Coconut bar

This was just ok, not much flavour.

Kungaloosh - chocolate cake

Again not a great dessert just ok.

We loved it here, good food, good fun all in a theme park!

We spent the evening at mnsshp which was a bit wet! This had a massive impact on what we were able to get done as we spent ages waiting for the parade to happen as the weather was causing problems.

Snack wise eldest had a candy corn ice cream

Snack wise that was it! I had so many plans but it just didn't happen and Mum got hit, accidentally, by a guy not looking where he was going after the fireworks so she needed to go home.

I was really sad that this was our final magic kingdom experience of our holiday and it finished on a bit of a downer. We've had so much fun but this wasn't how I wanted it to end. We won't be back for a long time.

Anyway this was our candy haul!

This morning we made our way to Epcot and caught a ride on Soarin before visiting the Garden Grill for breakfast.

We planned to spend the rest of the day at the Food and Wine Festival but decided that the kids at least should have breakfast in them in case they didn't eat much.

The breakfast is a family style meal which is brought to your table in sections. Our server offered us coffee and a version of jungle juice. He then brought fruit and cinnamon bun bake.

This was really nice, warm and big. It would easily feed six people.

Then we were brought the hot food skillet which included Mickey waffles, sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs and potato barrels.

We could ask for more of anything but there was more than enough for us. We also had chocolate sauce for the waffles.

It was simple food but it was done well and we enjoyed it. The youngest loves that the restaurant rotates.

The rest of our food today was eaten at the food and wine festival and is in a separate post. Thanks for reading 😊

Today we are at the first day of the food and wine festival. My intention is to write this part of the food report as we go around the various areas. Otherwise there will be too much to do when we've finished. I'll write up the rest of the day as normal as day 19.

Our first purchase! A tray for our snacks! How cool is this?!

Kara tamba tarekuchi dry sake

A pleasant dry sake

Kakigori strawberry and blue raspberry

Not technically food and wine but it's roasting out here today!

Again not technically food and wine but mum has wanted one all holiday and we've only got two days left! .... she loved it!

Generous amount of lobster- really tasty 😋

Orange blossom brewing foxtail cold brew coffee pilsner

This is good - there is a definite coffee taste, strange but remarkably good

Anchor brewing liberty ale

Ordinary ale nothing exciting

Victory golden monkey

Lovely white Belgium beer slightly honeyed taste

A reasonable cannoli but was lacking filling which is in my opinion the best bit... I had a better one in Tutto Italia for dinner

Radeberger Zwickel Pilsner (Unfiltered)

Reasonable, easy drink beer

Schöfferhofer Hefeweizen Pomegranate Beer

I've been waiting for this...! Even better than grapefruit version.. shame it's only brewed for food and wine festival

Madras Red Curry with Roasted Cauliflower, Baby Carrots, Chickpeas and Basmati Rice

Really really lovely, spicy and flavourful. A great dish

Warm Indian Bread with Pickled Garlic, Mango Salsa and Coriander Pesto Dips –

Very good, lots of flavour in the dips and a fair kick too

Mango Lassi (Non-Alcoholic)

Youngest in particular really enjoyed this, a milky style smoothie

Black Pepper Shrimp with Garlic Noodles –

Lovely- good portion with a decent amount of shrimp, very garlicky noodles

Chicken Potstickers

Devoured by eldest- he said lovely taste with nice spice. They weren't around long enough for anyone else to find out!

Tsingtao Lager

Bright Horizons: Sprite® with Multi-flavored Boba Pearls (Non-Alcoholic)

A big hit with the kids! Flashing cup and boba pearls!

Farm fresh

Crispy Chicken with Griddled Cornbread and Red Eye Gravy

Hubby ended up with 2 of these last accidentally but he didn't like it. He said it was chewy rather than crispy. The cornbread was honey flavoured but he wasn't keen on that either!

Hard cider flight

I loved the raspberry and. Citrus ones but didn't like the elderberry one. Hubby agreed!

Almond Orchard

Fire-roasted Tomato Hummus topped with Blue Diamond Salt & Vinegar Almonds and served with Blue Diamond Nut Thins®
Strawberry Smoothie made with Blue Diamond Almond Breeze® Almondmilk

Great hummus really tasty good tomato flavour.

The smoothie was fantastic, lots of strawberry in it.

Islands of the Caribbean

Quesito: Puff Pastry with Sweetened Cream Cheese and Guava Sauce

Yummy 😋

Today we were visiting Magic Kingdom but first we had a date with The Wave at the contemporary resort for breakfast. This was a new breakfast location for us and we were interested to see what it was like.

We were shown to our table and our server came and we ordered offer and juice. Although there is a menu you can also have buffet breakfast. We all choose to have buffet as most of the menu items were available on the buffet too.

It was a really nice buffet, it seemed really nice quality.

Some of our plates

We were all in agreement that this was a really great buffet breakfast. It didn't have as wide a selection as some but everything we needed was there. They were refilling the items really frequently as well. A great start to the day.

Whilst in Magic Kingdom we had some snacks

And some ice cream from Plaza ice cream parlour

Our dinner this evening was at the California Grill at the Contemporary Resort. We have fond memories of a number of different visits to this restaurant and hoped this evening continued that.

We arrived and checked in and were taken to the 15th floor. Our table was in the middle of the restaurant.

Our server brought water and took us through the menu, I asked for a vegetarian menu which was mentioned on the main menu.

I order a Blackberry lemonade cocktail

Hubby ordered a three philosophers beer

We were given two kinds of bread sourdough and focaccia and butter.

Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli - Tomato-Fennel broth, crispy mushrooms, tiny basil, Arbequina organic olive oil

This was lovely

Spicy Kazan Roll - crab, shrimp, scallops, tuna and fireball sauce

Hubby said this was delicious, he's waited two years to have these again!

BLT Flatbread - heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, cherrywood bacon jam, tomato mayonnaise, arugula

I don't think Mum or Eldest were particularly bothered by this

Kids - fruit

Maine lobster tail - butter poached, house made pasta, viral butter, broccolini

Chicken and dumplings- chicken breast, English pea dumplings, artichoke, baby squash, tomatoes, red eye gravy

Oak-fired choice Angus filet if beef - heirloom tomato risotto, toybox tomato, pickled garlic butter

Mum rated it the best for tenderness but 2nd for taste, for her Le Cellier still wins!

My menu

I picked the risotto, pasta, tomato flatbread and corn bisque.

The risotto was very nice as was the flatbread although it was very spicy.

Kids chicken , beans and sweet potato

Warm Valrohna Chocolate Cake - vanilla bean ice cream, milk chocolate whipped panna cotta, cashew clusters

California beignets - vanilla custard filled sugar-dusted, blackberry lemon grass sauce

These were amazing, the filling was lovely, would happily eat more of these

This was the most expensive meal we've had and it was good especially as we returned to watch the fireworks later this evening. The food was well thought out and generally very tasty. Personally I would rate the experience we had at Citricos higher than tonight but it would be a close run thing.

Everyone else had a breakfast reservation this morning at Olivia's. I however wasn't with them as I had a prior engagement.

I had an amazing day even if I was on my own. I'm afraid no photos on the tour so I couldn't show you the veggie burger I got! But I did get the others to photograph their breakfast.

Hubby decided to try the breakfast Bloody Mary.

His comment? " I don't think they would serve one to the same person twice!" Take from that what you will!!!

The food

Crab Cake Eggs Benedict - Two-Poached Eggs and two pan-fried Crab Cakes on an English Muffin with Key Lime Hollandaise and Olivia's breakfast potatoes

Waffle and Eggs - Waffles with Two Eggs-Any Style with choice of Bacon, Sausage, or Ham with Strawberry or Blueberry Sauce

Kids - Daisy's Sand Dollars - Buttermilk Pancakes served with Syrup and Butter.

All the food was reasonable breakfast food and seemed to and set them up for a day at typhoon lagoon.

We made our way to Sanaa for dinner this evening. We were seated soon after our adr time and had a great view of the Savannah outside the window.

Our server suggested we ordered the bread service straight away and then spend time looking at the menu, which we did.

Indian Style Bread Service - Breads include Traditional Naan, Garlic Ginger Naan, Spiced Naan, Onion Kulcha, and Paneer Paratha.
Accompaniments - Red Chile Sambal, Cucumber Raita, Coriander Chutney, Mango Chutney, Tomato-Date Jam, Garlic Pickle, Spicy Jalapeno-lime pickle, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Tamarind Chutney;

This was a great start to the meal and we all enjoyed trying the different dips and chutney.

Spice Route Charcuterie - African-inspired cured meats with chef's accompaniments

Hubby enjoyed this, the rabbit was particularly good.

Salad Sampler - Three salads: Chickpeas with Cucumber and Tomato; Watermelon, Cucumber and Fennel; Nigerian root vegetable and citrus

This was a nice fresh tasting starter, the chickpeas were really good, I wasn't quite so sure about the root vegetable salad it had quite a strong fennel taste.

Seasonal Soup - with Chef's Accompaniments
There were two options

Or pea

Both of these soups were enjoyed.

Potjie Inspired

choice of one served with scented basmati rice: butter chicken; spicy durban shrimp; chickpea wat; Aloo masala; paneer tikka; cilantro-coconut milk seasoned vegetables; goan seafood curry; braised beef; lentil dhal; roasted okra, cashew and tomato stew;

We had 4 versions of this
Braised beef/ aloo masala/ paneer tikka

Chickpea wat/ paneer tikka/ lentil dhal

Goan seafood/ aloo masala

Butter chicken/ paneer tikka

Everyone enjoyed this, none of the curry's were too spicy but had a nice blend of flavours. The lentil dhal was particularly good as was the aloo masala.

Kids cheeseburger

Spice Trade Candy Bar - coconut, apricot, caramel, and cashew coated in milk chocolate, topped with chai cream, pistachio crumble and apricot gelee

Mum had this and said it was like a decadent snickers bar! She said it was the best dessert she'd had.

Kenyan coffee petit entremet
Kenyan coffee chocolate mousse, espresso financier, vanilla cremeux, caramel, coffee crumble

This was huge! The coffee flavour was great a very nice dessert. I would definitely order it again. Hubby loved it too.

This was a really great meal and good value for a single credit option. It was nice to have some different flavours and options. Our server was great too. Generally a really good meal. We would go back.

Again we had a reasonably slow start to the day and a few desserts from previous meals may have been nibbled on for breakfast.

Today we were visiting Hollywood Studios and we had a lunch reservation booked at Mama Melrose at 11.30.

We have eaten here before on numerous occasions and have always enjoyed it, this morning time we weren't using it for dinner packages though.

We were seated very quickly and ordered drinks.

Hubby order a moreti beer. We just had soda/ milk.

Our server took us through what we were entitled to on the dining plan and we ordered starters

Oak - Fired Mussels - Cooked in a cioppino broth with Grilled Onions and Herb Croutons

Hubby really enjoyed these he said the broth was really tasty with a nice amount of spice

Mama's Caesar Salad - with crisp romaine lettuce, creamy Goddess dressing and herb croutons

The lettuce had lots of dressing it was nice but not a particularly strong tasting dressing

Margherita Flatbread - Fresh Vine-Ripened Tomatoes, Mozzarella, House-made Marinara Sauce, Fresh Basil, drizzled with Extra Virgin Olive Oil

These were good, lots of taste and not too huge.

Vegetable Lasagna - layers of grilled vegetables and spinach ricotta topped with mozzarella

This was an interesting take on veg lasagna, which had spinach and ricotta layered with courgettes and mushroom. It was really tasty and more chunky than a typical veg lasagna.

Oven-baked Chicken alla Parmigiana - Breaded chicken breast with marinara sauce topped with melted mozzarella over spaghetti

Mum said she really enjoyed this

Spaghetti and Meatballs - with house-made marinara, garnished with Pecorino Romano Cheese and Parsley

Eldest had a good go at finishing this, he was eventually defeated but loved the dish.

Sustainable Fish of the Day - with spinach and ricotta-potato gnocchi, mushrooms, summer vegetables, and tomato beurre blanc sauce. Today's was Mahi mahi

Hubby said the gnocchi was fantastic and he really enjoyed the fish. This was lighter than a pasta meal and he ate everything, a rare occurrence.

Traditional Cannoli - house-made creamy cannoli filling with a hint of citrus and dusted with cocoa powder

These were really yummy, no one managed to eat all three but they were really really good.

Cheesecake - no sugar added cheesecake with strawberry sauce topped with whipped cream

Eldest devoured this too!

A great lunch that everyone enjoyed, Hubby said he went with low expectations but came away pleasantly surprised by what we had had.

We spent the early part of the afternoon in the park and then made our way to the yacht club for our dinner at Yachtman Steakhouse.

Our adr was at 5.45 and we were seated immediately. I was given a birthday menu which they gave me to take away. Our server brought water whilst we looked at the menu.

Once we had ordered he brought the nicest bread we've had yet, onion brioche and sourdough rolls with butter and roasted garlic. Youngest absolutely loved the bread, particularly the brioche which fell apart where they were so fresh and warm.

Hubby and I also ordered some beer

Blueberry wheat for me

And St. Bernardus for him

This was really good, lovely flavour with the crouton giving something extra than just the soup.

Not sure about the dressing it was a bit strong but all the different tomatos were very interesting and tasted good

Hubby said this was well done. He really enjoyed the cucumber and wasabi ice cream that came with it. He enjoyed it.

Eldest struggled with the cheese tonight, he only liked two of the selections, which wouldn't normally be a problem as we all love cheese, however we all struggled with some of the flavours, particularly the sheeps milk one.

Kids - chicken noodle soup

Hubby's steak was enormous and he managed a fair amount. It was tender and full of flavour, the garlic aioli was very good with it too. The chips were very interesting, we decided they must have been cooked in vinegar some how.

Mum loved her steak, it really was very good. Although Le Cellier is still winning for her in the best steak competition!

Eldest enjoyed the Chicken again, and the rosti was very good but not what I would have expected for a rosti. It was more like mash which had been rolled into a ball and fried.

The pasta was very rich and I struggled to eat it. It's the second time I've had purple sweet potato since I've been here and I'm not totally sure about it, it's very sweet and that can sometimes overpower the rest of the meal.

Kids - pasta and meatballs

Carrot Cake - Cheesecake Icing, Caramel Ice Cream, Walnuts; a no-sugar added dessert

Lime Semifreddo - Meringue, Guava, Blackberry

This was truly lovely. Tart and cold which melted in the mouth

Chocolate-Peanut Cake - Pretzels, Salted Caramel Gelato

Hubby described it as a smooth snickers bar.

The Yachtsman Sundae - Trio of Gelato and Amarena Cherries

Kids chocolate puzzle

I also have given this mini dessert for my birthday. It tasted wonderful.

This was a nice meal, it didn't seem as refined as some of the other signature restaurants but the food was still pretty amazing. I think we all did pretty well here. I do think the server was pretty disappointed when I asked for the vegetarian option in a Steak restaurant, he followed it up with whether I would like chicken or fish, I politely declined but I think he was somewhat disappointed.

If you're a steak person then this is definitely a great meal to have
