Manatees at Fort Myers Power Station

For anyone who wants to see Manatees up close bathing in warm water, in the wild, the best viewing times are between the months of November and March due to the cooler gulf temperature.

The manatees swim up the river to take advantage of the warm water, aS the power station discharges into the river.

The manatees treat it as the winter Spa.

The Manatee Park is a non-captive refuge for the Florida Manatee. Manatees are generally not present during the warm summer months.

The park is an absolutely incredible place to visit any time of the year, it has an extensive butterfly garden, a fishing pier on the Orange River, as well as a canoe/kayak launch to the Orange River.

Driving Directions: Take I-75 to exit 141. Go east 1 1/4 miles. The park is on the right (directly across the street from the FPL Power
