Vista Cay & Cay Commons resort map
As we drove up to the gates of Cay Commons we were all in awe - this was going to be our home for the next 18 nights and we hadn't even seen the apartment yet !
We were located in building 2, a 3 bedroomed apartment on Breakview Drive booked through Destination America - it cost us a bargain of £55/night !
Walkable was a Publix, NYPD (pizza shop - sit in and take out!) & a Chinese takeaway. (few pics later on in my TR of food from the take outs!). Located near the clubhouse in Vista Cay is a Walgreens - is a drive away (unless you fancy walking of course - its not impossible).
The apartment was lovely - spacious, clean, everything you could've wished for. Location was second to none in my opinion with us having easy access to the 528 and the I-4 for Seaworld & Disney & being located directly on Universal Boulevard for Universal Studios.
I don't think you'd NEED a car if you were to choose to stay here but it would certainly help. There is a Lynx Bus 58 that runs from Shingle Creek (opposite), along Universal Boulevard to Pointe Orlando and down to the Canadian Court/Destination Parkway Superstop where you can get the 111 to Downtown Disney & Magic Kingdom. There is also a new Lynx which apparantly will pick you up and drop you off wherever in the pick up area... just have a read of this - will explain it much better than I can - it looks great 641
The complex wasn't fully finished when we stayed there - they were no longer building condos/apartments and there was no disturbance on site but there was an unfinished road that you can just see on my pictures (facing towards the convention centre) and on the site map further up that would that have been finished would've made getting to I-Drive so much easier (in both the car & for walkers). I notice that the road on google maps is called Destination Parkway which co-insides nicely to the name of the superstop i mentioned earlier .
No doubt you could've walked around the lake and onwards to the superstop but only on what looked like a dirt track and there was a 'cut through' to I-drive for the car (and walking i guess) a little further up Universal Boulevard but having this road finished would've just topped the resort off in my opinion.
