Do people think you're rich?

Having just endured another (one-sided ) conversation with my mother about our 'affluent lifestyle', I just wondered how many other people had friends or family who think they're rich because they keep going back to WDW.

I just don't think my mum gets that the reason we can afford to keep going back is because for the other 11 1/2 months of the year, we have no life

We are always getting this, but we don't smoke, don't go out to much and watch the pennies so that for two weeks of the year we can have great fun in WDW

I don't even go to any Disney park that often compared to a lot of people on here and people still think me/my parents have 'money to waste' I could give them a long list of ways I cut back to afford Disney/spending money there but it's not usually worth the bother, let them be deluded!

I get it all the time! Ohh, how do you afford to go on two holidays a year? How can you afford to go shopping all the time? Etc, etc, etc. Well, because i work bloody hard for it, that's how! *lol* Plus it helps that i don't have any dependants, so all i earn after paying bills is mine to do with as i want!

Of course I'm rich!

That's why I drive a 6 year old car (and my husband gets the bus to work) why I'm wearing clothes that I bought 3 summers ago and why my DD's wardrobe is half full of her 8 year old cousins second hand NEXT stuff!

Oh and our house hasn't been decorated since we moved in 4 years ago, the driveway hasn't been replaced despite badly needing doing and I buy a lot of 'own brand' food.

Rolling in it we are!

Don't get me started! Dh and I have both just had promotion (which we worked really hard for!) and are now moving house and going back to WDW(not until next June, though, and are still saving hard to get there!) One of my colleagues recently started a tirade about "you don't know how lucky you are, my kids never had holidays when they were the age of yours, blah, blah, blah" But we work hard and save hard, so think we deserve it!

We get this all the time - I am almost embarrassed when people ask where we are going on holiday to tell them that we are going to Florida for a month and haven't dared mention our one off special Christmas trip . The bottom line is as Joh said is that we don't have a life for the other 11 months of the year as we prefer to save up for our annual Florida trip. Also most people would just price up their holiday through a TA and here in Ireland and that is an expensive way to do it. They don't realise that our month in Florida is only a bit more expensive than their 2 weeks in Spain

I get this all the time, especially from our neighbours neither of whom work, though they drive a nearly new car and spend every waking hour during the summer in their front garden drinking and smoking.

As has been said here by others our social life consists of a night down the local every other week and the very occasional meal out.

But for 2 weeks every year, yes I am rich cos I tend not to count the pennies too much in Orlando (within reason).
