Lenses

I am looking to get a canon and poss a 400d... then I plan to buy lenses for it and when I upgrade the body I can go with a new canon and keep the lenses i brought... thats the plan

What I wanted to know, those who have got a camera body and lenses, what lenses do you have and what are your thoughts on lenses, i know they can be v v expensive and work out moreso than the body of the camera. What I would like to end up with is, a good macro facitility, an all round lens for general shots and a cracking zoom lens... without spending thousands and thousands on lenses...
