HELP, Photoshop crop problem?

Help can anyone suggest why Im having a problem cropping(thats CROPPING! please no constipation jokes

) This started tonight

The crop box suddenly doesnt stay with the pointer and will only stretch out to a perfect square when im trying to select an area, so I cant crop to a wide narrow landscape for example. Im new to PS so im sure its something simple but dont know what, I assume Image format is not a problem but I have tried shooting a few TIFF images today?

Any suggestions please.

If you have photo shop CS1/CS2 then you can select various aspect row options at the top, of which the ALT, SHIFT and CTRL keys fiddle with.

I am sure you know all this, so perhaps a sticky key is being norty =)

Didnt know that Andy,Im almost completely new to Photoshop but Im on PS version7

I have photoshop elements, but in Elements there is an option to say if you want to crop to a specific ratio, ie 4x6 for photographs - it sounds like you have selected crop to square. in Elements its an option in a bar just about the photo.

its called 'Aspect Ratio' this is Elements but it will be very similiar in PS7
