Does anyone have any photo examples taken at night or in poor light with the Canon EOS 350D / Rebel?
Considering buying this camera tomorrow

Hi Cassie

I will move this over to the Dibb Photo Clinic for you. Hopefully someone will be along to answer your question.

Haven't got any to hand but I got a 350 about 6 months ago and am well pleased with it. Even DW loves to use it compared to our Canon S45 we had previously - it's so responsive. Quality is superb.

I can suggest looking to dpreview/reviews/spec...on_eos350d.asp for details and links to samples and an indepth review

then forums.dpreview/forums/forum.asp?forum=1031 for a forum about canon SLRs and there might be samples there

There are about 3000 pics in my PhotoBucket Gallery (see sig). Check out the "After Dark" sections in the WDW and DLP folders for night-time shots. The 350D's low-light performance really is superb - just buy one, you won't be disappointed! Note: it has been replaced by the 400D now, which is similar but with a higher rez CCD - probably a good deal more expensive though, as I'm guessing there are some good bargains on the 350D around by now, and it's still a brilliant camera.

For example:

or

Or indoors, shot at 1600 ISO. Starting to show a bit of grain in the background (which sharpening hasn't helped one bit) but still not bad!:

I will be getting my Sister a 350d this Christmas.

It is a remarkable camera.

(... and Andre really shows that, especially the 1600 iso Oz shots. Fantastic sir.)

What lens are you using Andre? I have the standard kit lens and am thinking about treating myself to a new one.

It always worries me when people post messages like that; I'm dreading the day I find another message a week later from someone saying "and we think your advice sucks and we wasted our money!"

Seriously though, I think you will be more than happy with the results - and the 400D is a nice price too. How have you found it so far?

Two lenses on the above photos. The outdoor long exposure ones were my standard Canon USM 17-85 IS lens, which is very similar to the standard supplied one apart from the slightly longer focal lengths and the Image Stabiliser facility (neither of which were used in the above photos). The indoor Oz one was using a fixed 50mm lens which stops down to f1.8, which when combined with ISO 1600 allows you to shoot indoors where you can't otherwise use a flash.
