Digital camera
I dont know if this is the right place to post but can someone recommend a good digital camera that doesn't cost the earth. I just want a good one that takes good clear pictures of our holidays.
Thanks

Close... try the Photo Clinic sub-forum though, lots of folks there who can help. We'd need to know a bit more what you're looking for though (price range, size, do you want to experiment a bit or just point-and-shoot, etc).

Doh, thanks Andre, I'm sure one of the mods will kindly move it for me.
I'd like a camera that I can just point and shoot but I have to admire some of the crystal clear firework pics and would love mine to look like that. I guess my price range would be around £100-£150.

Sony W55 - 7 MP £143 compact point and shoot
Sony W50 6 MP £130 compact point and shoot Sony W35 7.2 MP £133 Samsung i6 £120 6 MP - very sleek camera - don't know how good at night shots though Samsung NV3 7 MP £134 looks a very nice compact camera The best photos I have seen of fireworks from a compact have been posted by Rusty30 using a canon ixus - I cannot remember which one, but this may be more due to her talent with the camera rather than the camera itself. Anyway just outside your budget Canon ixus I7 £160 7 MP Olympus SP510 - 7 MP - 10 x optical zoom - while not so compact as all the other cameras, this has a 10 x optical zoom and also has many other features and at £151 is an excellent buy - it has been discontinued as they have a new model the SP550 which is £110 more expensive. I have a Sony compact superzoom like the Olympus above and really like it, but it definitely does not fit in your pocket! The choice is bewildering, try and see a model you like then search for some online reviews. Good luck.

i have a fuji f1o, had it for about 18 months- two years now. it really is good for low light and fireworks as essexmick says. the multiple burst is useful for fireworks too. they have certainly come down in price since i bought mine |

page 52 - 54 explains how to find and set it in my manual. when you set it, it will take 40 photos with one press of the shutter button. i usually set this for fireworks and point in the direction of them and fire off the shots. i usually manage to get 25 - 30 usable ones and delete the rubbish. i'm sorry you hav'nt been well, if had known before i would never have said i would come after you with my big syringe sorry again |
