Lightbulb Can anyone help me please!

Hi, This is our first trip to Orlando as a Family, we land at 5.30pm and we are being transported by Magical express. Does anyone have any ideas of where to eat on the first night? We are staying at the AKL, is the rainforest cafe really far away and would we need to use our passes to get there? I don't want to use them until the next day.
I do know there are restaurants in the Hotel, but I think the kids will want to experience America, I am so confused.
Thanks so much
regards

If you want them to experience america, i personally would try and get to an all you can eat restaurant, which was a new thing for me, my little brother loved helping himself, and making bizzare deserts with the ice cream machines! You might be able to catch a bus to i-drive.

Not sure about disney though sorry!

To be honest with you i doubt you will be up for a full table service meal, you will all be cream crackered. You don't say how old the children are but if it were me i would just get something quick like a take away pizza or something similar.
AKL does have a table service restaurant called Boma but i don't think you would fully appreciate it after hours of travelling.

There are 2 Rainforest Cafes, one at AK and the other at DTD. But you may find yourselves waiting over an hour for a table as they are popular.

I agree about being too tired, we didn't even eat the first night, we just went straight to bed!

As leanne says you will be exhausted after a very long day. We usually grab a takeaway and then crash. Be prepared for a very early start the next morning though!

Dont worry about rushing straight out on the first night and finding the nearest buffet, you probably would not enjoy it as much as you would if wait till the next day. The rainforest cafe at AK is not actually in the park so you can go there without going into the park.

At AKL there is a MARA - its a cafe type restaurant down by the pool area, I would advise using it. Are you having a car? If so you could take a drive down to the 192 where there are restaurants - we did but my children fell asleep durning the meal (they ar 8 and yes one did have face in the dinner). We were also very tired and would not do it again.

The Rainforest Cafe at AKL could be used (its about 5 mins from AKL by disney bus) but it can be very crowded and you may have to wait some time for a place unless you book an ADR(can you do that for RFC ?) and as stated above the entrance is just ouside the AKL tunstlies.
