Free Disney Dining Plan?
My DD and her BF have decided to go around the end of August this year and will not drive but stay in Pop Century or 1 of the Disney value resorts. I think the free Disney Dining plan is on then?
She already has a non-expiry Disney pass from our trip next year but I think to qualify for free dining she will have to buy another? Have told them not to book anything yet until I find out all the information about this, imagine they should be able to get a pretty good price for end Aug/Sep even from Glasgow? Is the free DDP good value? Any tips? As you know we are villa dwellers so I don't have a clue!

If they want the free dining they will need to book direct with Disney. The dates for the free dining are August 26th-Sept 22nd so as long as they arrived between those dates and purchase a minimum of a 1 day base ticket per person then they will get dining for the duration of their stay.
I must say, the values have proved very popular with the DDP this year and there is limited availability. I know of lots of people that wanted Pop but there were no free dining rooms left. I do believe, however, that rooms are opening up all the time. Cinders Mum is the true expert on this and she booked our first week at Disney for me recently. This will be our first time on the DDP and am really looking forward to trying lots of restaurants that we havent previously visited. I know Vabeth purchased the DDP last year and would have done so again this year but was lucky enough to get it free. So in terms of the value of the plan it really depends on how you normally eat. But if its free then the value is not really an issue.

To qualify for free dining they will need to book direct with Disney in the US or via a Disney specialist TA and purchase park tickets and accommodation. The free DDP is dependent upon paying rack rate for the room. It is available for arrivals from August 26th.
I'd get booked ASAP as there is limited availability at each resort and I would imagine the value resorts would sell out fast considering this has been on offer for a few weeks already. |

I thought the free dining plan was an option available from some tour operators? Obviously they are on a budget (guess I will have to get the wallet out also) and will be looking for the best possible deal.

It was only available to book via UK tour operators if you booked last year between Aug(i think) and Nov. That offer isn't on anymore although you can purchase it with them.
But if you book your flights seperately and then book accomodation direct with Disney you can get free dining.

Thanks for all the info - I will speak to them about it and see what they say - flights seem quite expensive (apart from globespan) and I may contact Val - will see what the kids say first.
