digital downloading help required
I am relatively new to digital photography having used slrs for the past 30 years, and am having problems downloading images from my CF card to my computer.
I have a card reader which appears to have corrupted the card in so much that it wont download to the computer via any connection, card reader or camera cable, the computer program that aquires the images says there are no images on the card, there are 150 images on it which can be seen via the camera and printer that we have. does anybody have any suggestions as to how i might retrieve the images to my computer or direct to disc. thanks in anticipation, steve |

Some card readers wont read cards with high memory capacity. I bought a 1gig card in Florida and none of my card readers at home would work on it.
Depending on what camera you have, make sure you have the latest firmware upgrade for it and the software that comes with it. Have you tried taking it into Boots or Jessops to see if they can retrieve the images and put them onto a CD? If they cant get them off then I dont know what else to suggest. One other thing - did you shoot in RAW or Jpeg? If you shot in RAW you may need specialist software to convert the images otherwise they will just appear as a file number. There are some better qualified people than me on here who might have better advice though! |

all the shots are in jpeg , i use a canon rebel xt and have had no problems downloading previously from the card, it appears the reader has corrupted the card somehow

It's a CompactFlash card, so it's unlikely the reader in the PC won't recognise the size. Have you tried using the USB cable from the camera to the PC (you'll need to install Canon's software first) and copying the pictures via the camera?

Id take it into Boots or Jessops to see if they can retrieve it.
They may even be able to tell you if the card is corrupted. Where they precious pictures? I hope you get it sorted. |
