Compact flash prices

Am just about to delve into the realms of DSLR with a canon 400d. I see loads of different prices for compact flash cards. Would anyone recommend one. The sandisk exteme one seems good but also seems dearer than most.

Just a thought - that's a heck of a lot of pictures to risk having on one flash card. Apart from losing it, it's not unknown for them to get corrupted.

Yip try to stick to lower sized CF cards, 1gb is fine and will not lose too many if it goes belly up, ALWAYS use a dealer and not the far east cowboys on e-bay and get SANDISK extreme III or above. The e-bay boys sell rip offs that are pretty bad at corupting your images and are soooooooooo slow to write image to card.

So arm yourself with 4 or 5 1gb cards and you will be fine. If you shoot highest jpegs you will get a good few on a card, raw approx half of the highest jpeg setting.

Also take a laptop if you have one or find a good place that will burn your images to cd/dvd and thaen they are backed up for you allowing you to reformat the card and use over and over of course.
