New Super Walmart - Turkey Lake Road

For those that are staying in the International Drive area you will be happy to hear that a new Super Walmart is soon to open off of Turkey Lake Road.

If you are familiar with I-4 it is just opposite (west side of I-4) of the old Race Rock building. There is another stip mall next to Walmart and I will try to update those store names as they become available.

Oh that will be handy for us if it's open before we go, any idea when it is due to open?

I don't believe it will be in time for your holiday. The sign is up but construction is still underway.

A super walmart does that mean that it is bigger than the ones already there?

It depends on what you have been to before. Super Walmarts are the one's with the grocery store and other services. A standard Walmart does not have the grocery option.

The hours of operation are generally different for Super Walmarts as well.

sounds great - we normally get a taxi to the one on sand lake road.

We generally stay in the LBV area and usually use Turkey Lake Road rather than I4 - I'm always amazed at how quiet it is, just the odd other car!
Hope the new Walmart (we saw it last month) doesn't make too much difference.

I expect it to be fairly busy. Location is an obvious reason why but it will also pull in some area residents. I know (although I very rarely ever go to Wal-Mart...I'm a Target girl!) that if I need to go to one I would switch. I have a Wal-Mart within walking distance but it is in really bad shape and pulls in not the best of shoppers.

As for the tourism I think they are hoping that the bulk of I-Drive will go here instead of to Sand Lake/John Young but I think that if the shoppers are headed to Florida Mall they will stick with the Sand Lake option.

The last catch will be what goes in the remaining of the retail spots. I'm restuarants will be quick to follow.


... and for the Turkey Lake option instead of I-4. Most residents don't bother with what we call a feeder road so it wouldn't be as busy.
