copying photos help

I have bought 16 X DVD-R discs... got a feeling they are not the right ones... and I need help please
I am trying to copy photos from my pc to a disc, each time I click 'burn' it says there is no disc in I am getting very frustrated now...
What is the 16X? and is this relevant
I have chosen the data option but it still says 'no disc'
any help would be gratefully received.

Whats the make and model of your dvd drive?

You could then google its spec and see which discs it takes.

I'll try to help

On Windows XP click My Computer , then right click your DVD drive and select properties.
Click the hardware tab. The list that comes up is the list of drives on your PC. this should show you the name of your drive... I think

All x16 means is the maximum writing speed.

I would be more concerned whether your drive writes to + or - discs, but most new drives seem to write to both formats.

Sorry I can't help

ok on the front of the drive tray you might be able to see some writing on it and it could say what discs its capable of reading.

the 16x is the max speed of the drive, if you have 4x discs it work to that speed anyway

it should say +_ or _+ over each other... what is the drive name?
