Disabled parking - Gatwick
Does anyone know if there is disabled parking at Gatwick that does not cost the earth.
It would be so nice to just go to the van when we arrive and not have to get transport to parking area. |

Hi Michelle,
The only parking at Gatwick offered on site that doesn't involve a bus transfer is the short stay option which usually runs at around £21.00 a day as I recall. BAA have just spent a lot of money upgrading the short stay car parks at both North and South terminals and I know that there are a number of disabled spaces in the car parks at both sites. For longer stays I have just lifted this from the BAA website. Business/Long Stay car parks Please call BAA Advance on 0870 850 2825 (UK) or +44(0)121 410 5105 (from outside the UK) for information on booking special needs car parking in Business and Long Stay car parks at Gatwick. Our Minitel number is +44 (0)121 410 5284. Failing that I think there are companies out there that meet you are departures and take your car away, and then bring it back and meet you at arrivals. That may suit you better? I am sure one of the other Dibbers will be along soon to help. Pete |

Michelle - we use Maple Manor at about £5.50 a day and they will pick your car up and drop it back off for you. They are the cheapest we have found for this type of service at Gatwick and we have never been disappointed. Drivers are pleasant and very helpful. If you need any special assistance give them a call I'm sure they'll be able to help.

Parking
Hello,
We used the disabled parking last year when we went to Mexico. We phoned and asked for disabled parking in the Short Stay car park and they gave us a price over the phone. If I remember it rightly it was at least half the cost. They followed this up with a letter with a special code that we punched in on exiting following our return from holiday. I dont know if they still operate this way, but it was certainly very easy. Good Luck and have a lovely time Best Wishes Sally x |

This is nothing to do with Gatwick parking but as you have been five times before, I presume you know about disabled parking in Disney? Or getting the end of the lane parking so you haven't got such a long walk to the tram. If not, when we last went (my sister is disabled) we started displaying her disabled badge and we were directed to the disabled parking - but she doesn't use a wheelchair that often and we had to wait for one to be returned because it seemed further away than normal parking. When we spoke to the parking attendant he told us to ask for end of row parking because somebody in the party had limited ability. After that, it was great. Don't know if they still do that, though - but I bet somebody on here will. Sorry - didn't mean to hijack your thread!

Hey there we booked the personal parking through CPS for Manchester Airport (I think they do it with others as well), where you drive into the pickup/drop off point and they then take away your car and park it for you. They take your flight number etc and you phone them as you get into baggage claim and your car is then waiting for you in the pick up/drop off point when you get out.
We booked 2 cars (2 disabled travellers) and it cost us £70 per car for 2 weeks. It is secure parking with security patrols etc. and seemed a lot less hassle for the kids and disabled passengers than anything else in our eyes. Hope this helps __________________ |
