Re: Florida disabled parking...
This is what I did... I took a photocopy of DD's passport, the page with her photo on, took a photocopy of both sides of her disabled badge... went to Post Office bought $15, popped a note into the envelope stating the dates I was in Florida and sent it all off to the Osceola county tax collector. Recorded delivery. This morning, nearly two weeks later I get the Florida permit in the post.
I am not saying to do this... just saying that after going to the bank and them wanting twenty pounds! for a money order I decided to cut my losses... I figured that if $15, seven squid... went missing I wouldn't cry about it. It worked for me. Edited at 05:50 PM. |

Forgive me if I sound thick here but my son has just been awarded a blue badge & I am not yet sure of the rules in this country, let alone in Florida! Can someone please advise me what the benefit of getting the parking permit would be? Do you get to park nearer to the park entrance? Does it entitle you to reduced rate parking? Are you able to use it to park on double yellows, as in this country, for a limited time? I am sorry if this has been covered in another post but a quick search revealed nothing.
We are off to Florida next April, flights booked, villa booked! Can't wait! Louise. |

Welcome Louise. With the Florida tag you can use the disabled parking spaces the same way that you do here in the UK. If you go to one of the Disney Resorts you can use valet parking for free you just have to give a tip to the person that takes your car and the person that returns it. Not sure about 'yellow lines' etc.

Without wishing to sound like a party-pooper, I have just had an up-dated request from the Osceola Tax office as it seems they are receiving quite a few applications with cash in, and they have asked if I can remind people that this is, unfortunately, NOT an acceptable way to send in applications to them for the obvious reasons. They have been happy to process the cash applications they have had to date, but want to try to stop these in future, as sending cash in the post is never a good idea, and they want to make sure it doesn't become a known problem that unscrupulous people might take advantage of.
