West coast trip 2009 - Part 15
We leave LA and head over to Santa Monica to have alook at the beach/pier, takes about 30 mins and is worth the effort.
Park up in a public parking multi story, free for 2 Hrs and stroll along the beach, it is beatiful. When we come back we are going to stay a few days here for a chill out between cities. Wander down the pier, a lady in a wheel chair was trying to go down on her own and having a real hard time so I escort her down. Even though it isnt that steep, I was sweating buckets by the time I got to the main pier section, anyway a good deed done. Have burgers from the restaurant on the pier and just wander around looking at the rides/shops and stalls. Head back to the car within the 2 hr grace period (just) and off to Anaheim, the journey takes about 1 hr due to traffic. Check into 2101, grab swimming gear and off to the pirates cove. Spend a few hours relaxing, then back to the room to get changed for the evening. It is now that we notice the road noise, anyway we head off to find a reastaurant in the Garden Walk area and decide on The Cheesecake Factory as we had an excellent meal there in SF. Once again the food/service was superb, meal comes to $81 inc 1 cocktail (Mojito) and 3 bottles of Beer. After the meal we stroll back to the hotel to get some sleep as we are going to the Disney park in the morning. After a shocking nights sleep having been kept awake by the road noise, trust me it is shockingly bad in our room, I go to reception and demand a room move, they are unable to accommodate until Sunday afternoon. If I hadnt prepaid I would have checked out right then, this is one of the disadvantages of prepaying for your accommodation, they hold the advantage. Go back to the room and fire an email off to the booking agent (Alpharooms) about this. Edited at 04:33 PM. |
