Pixie Dust
Hello fellow Disney brides
Well, I'm sure we've all read Summer's TR with all the pixie dust with great envy! I was just wondering what other special treats other Disney brides have received? Do you think these are increased/better if you stay at a Deluxe resort? |

Wasn't it a lovely surprise for them, I bet it absolutely made their trip
I don't know but I do suspect it had something to do with them having a DFT wedding and staying in a deluxe. I haven't read about anyone else having so much pixie dust. It wouold be nice though wouldn't it. |

Well we are having a DFTW but were thinking about a moderate as we love POFQ and it's over £1000 more to upgrade to a deluxe which is crazy money for what is in my opinion not a big difference. I've stayed a YC, GF, ASMusic & POFQ and while I love YC, I don't think the difference in the accomodation is worth £1200 more! Especially since we barely use the resort. If we want to swim, we go to TL/BB, we are up early, back to change and out til late
HOWEVER if it means I'll miss out on some hidden surprises, then it might be worth booking some extra days at another resort (i.e. 2 nights at a deluxe) or even just biting the bullet, but it would make things a lot tighter, trying to find another £1200! What do others think? Other pixie dust experiences? |

I know what you mean. Alot of people on here say the deluxes aren't much better than Port Orleans resorts for the money.
It's a gamble though isn't it. You could bite the bullet and fork out for a deluxe only to think it wasn't worth it, or it could be worth every penny with an extra little bit of pixie dust thrown in. I think it would be a good idea to book two nights somewhere special. After seeing Summers photos I fancy the Grand Floridian which wouldn't be my usual choice, but her report and photos sold it to me. |

I know it's such a tough choice! I was thinking about doing a split stay, 7+7+7 or 10+11 days at POFQ, AKL and maybe Contemporary. I think Summer's pics are lovely but I've stayed at GF before and didn't like it so much. Also I'd like to stay at a different deluxe and me and Matt really fancied Contemporary last time we visited.
Good job we've got so much time to make these tough decisions! We'll have to see what bargains/deals I can find! I wish I knew if moderate pixie dust happened! |

The thing is that not everyone gets pixie dust, I think expectations can get increased by reading so much on these boards.
Saying that during our last trip we got upgraded at wilderness lodge to concierge (I think it was more to do with overbooking than pixie dust) and really enjoyed it. So for this trip we have paid for concierge because we enjoyed it so much. We also got upgraded at coronado springs to lake view room and recieved complimentary champagne during the trip :-)

I know what you mean about expectations, it does seem that Summer was very lucky. We got a few bits when we were engaged (lots of cakes and champagne flutes from CRT) which was lovely. I definitely would not go out there expecting anything! Still toying with a deluxe, not sure! I guess it depends on price when we come to book, e.g. I know Complete Orlando currently have a sale on AKL so that could make it not so different in price, and we are thinking of staying at SSR if they do the 40% off deal again

We had various bits and pieces of pixie dust staying at POFQ - we also got pixie dust staying there in 2006 when we were celebrating two years of being together!
Ours included that we were upgraded to a corner king room (much more space and courtyard view), we had a variety of towel animals, and at some restaurants we got special desserts, free desserts etc. If you go expecting only to make your own pixie dust then everything else is an added bonus - we just make a point to be friendly to everyone we meet, and nice things sometimes seem to happen for us |

Yeah, the same happened for us when we got engaged in September so I think we should just be super smiley and hope for the best...things seem to be working out ok for us atm (got a work bonus last week so these credit cards are getting paid off faster and faster) which means we can save more for the wedding and extra nice wedding things can be ordered/booked, e.g. honeymoon shoot, maybe stay at a deluxe (though I did love POFQ)...it's nice to hear about your upgrade at POFQ, Jen!
