Squishy's March '10 Trippie - Day 2
Day 1
We didn’t have the earliest of starts, having not got back from the park until 11pm on Sunday night! Breakfast was kind of a scrum – everyone was queuing outside the Redwood Bar until the very harassed-looking manager said that there were now no more queues downstairs and could everyone please go down there! Guess it was a case of slight herd mentality! We saw Eeyore in passing and then Goofy’s son – everyone was asking who he was, what was his name (and yet he seemed to be there every morning!). We headed across to the Studios and went straight to Stitch Live! It was fantastic and a different story to when we went last summer – just nice little variations! Then did the Stunt Moteur Action show (on the way, saw that the umbrella had no rain!) and was quite surprised that DD sat through it all – she was a bit alarmed by the flames at the end! We queued in the Front Lot to meet Mickey and Minnie together but because there was no CM there (to use our camera) we went back later to get a photo of all 5 of us with them (well, you don’t get that chance every day and we’re unlikely to get it ever again! ). Then we split up, DD, WSM (she’s not really a Wicked Step Mother, but it stuck!) and I went to do Flying Carpets, Cars and then got a place for the Stars in Cars parade while Dad and DH went and did Armageddon and Tower of Terror! Disappointed on our way past to see the Scream area and Monsters Inc photo area, although still visible, was boarded up. DD put her Snow White dress on (and after that moment, I stopped trying to dress her in ‘normal’ clothes!) and she was spotted by Dopey who entertained us for a while and then brought Snow over – wish I’d asked her for a proper photo but only managed to get the back of DD or her delighted face without Snow in it….never mind. Parade was busy with a group of children who had very loud voices (!) but didn’t know the characters (shouting ‘nasty girls’ at Cruella and the Queen and ‘Monsters inc’ at Sully! ). Just before a very (late) lunch, we saw Stitch! Initially just milling around a corner of the Front Lot, dancing by himself and swinging around lampposts before being swarmed with people! We had a little photo but another girl kept muscling in on DD (even Stitch gave her a ‘look’!) and what’s more, she was grinning at our camera (we’re not talking a little girl, maybe aged 16!) – afterwards, the CM asked us if we were all together and when we said no, she just commented ‘some people are like that’ and let us have another photo with him (one of the highlights for me, I LOVE Stitch!). Then we went back across to Disneyland Park and while DD had a nap, DH, Dad and I went on Buzz Lightyear (10-15 minute queue)– much to DH’s amazement, I whooped his @ss! We woke DD for It’s a Small World – seemed brighter and more sparkly than the last time we went (although the walk through part at the end didn’t! And while it held little interest for the adults, DD remained captivated by it!). Then pretty much a walk-on to the Snow White ride, which we found much too fast (apart from it not letting us take in the good bits, it was almost painful on the back/neck with the jarring); quite scary (and she hadn't found Pinocchio at all scary) and then a walk-on to the Tea Cups! We called it a day after that and went to Cape Cod at Newport Bay for the buffet. Whilst the food seemed a bit nicer than Sequoia Lodge the previous night (starters and desserts pretty much the same, perhaps even less choice on the main meals), the atmosphere wasn’t as good and the servers were bordering on surly and were quite inattentive, everyone was piling up their own plates and clearing their tables for the next ‘round’ – mind you, the restaurant was unbearably hot which can’t have been much fun! And that was it! Back to our hotel just after 9, quite early compared to the day before! TFL! Day 3 Edited at 07:44 PM. |

Great report. I forgot to mention in mine that we saw far more kids dressed up in DLP than we ever have in Orlando. It was mainly the girls, and Snow White dresses seemed to be especially popular, but did see a few boys (and one girl) dressed up as Buzz Lightyear as well.
