JEMS (are we mad driving to Paris? ) Pre-Trippie

Hello everyone

Youngest DD is off school today with a bad cold so I've had to take the day off too. Therefore thought I would take the time to write a pre-trip report.

There are 4 of us going - myself, Sharon, DH, John and DD's aged 14 and 11. DH & I have been 3 times before, 2 of those as a family. We decided to book this trip when Disney were offering kids under 12 go free and as Megan is 12 this summer, thought we'd take advantage.

Schools finish for Easter here on Friday so that's when our holiday starts. Cases are down from the loft, ironing is up to date, had our holiday haircuts... we're getting there apart from the slight blip that Megs isn't feeling well Erin our eldest DD has Aspergers and she has been super excited about the trip for weeks now. Every morning I wake up to the sound of her bouncing about downstairs!

Anyway the plan is to leave as soon as we are ready after school on Friday to drive down to DH's Aunt in Gerrards Cross, Bucks for the weekend. This is a long drive from NE Scotland but we do this nearly ever holiday and it takes about 8-10 hours depending on traffic and time of day. Plan to spend relaxing but fun family weekend with cousins and their 3 beautiful little girls (my girls aren't so little anymore )

Monday morning we will get up at the crack of dawn to drive to Dover to catch the 7.30am ferry to Calais. We are staying at Davy Crockett for 2 nights which will be a new experience. Read mixed reviews but we chose it so that we could have breakfast by ourselves and not share the experience with 1,000's of other people (stayed at Santa Fe once and it was gobsmacking how big that dining room is!)
Also our"cabin" has a microwave, hotplates and a fridge so we can cater for mega fussy DD.

Honestly haven't planned every inch of our 3 days in the parks but we know what we want to do and as we have been before don't want to get hung up with having to do every ride and every show. (Aberdonians like to get their monies worth) Just hope the queues for Crush aren't too long as that will of course be a new experience. Haven't made any ADR's either but do remember which counter service restaurants got the thumbs up from fussy DD last time so we know where we need to be around lunch time!

On the Wednesday we are sailing home the Zeebrugge to Hull route to cut the drive time down a litte. This also extends the holiday by another night on board the ferry. We usually have a nice dinner and see a movie before bedding down in our cabin.

Home before tea time on Thursday (although might have a Edinburgh IKEA detour on the way up the road LOL) Then poor DH is back to work on Friday while me and the girls have another week of school hols HURRAY

Can't wait now!

Arggghhh sounds brill, lets hope the weather cheers up a bit for yous!

We want to do DLP (10 times to WDW and no DLP- we should be shot! ) but the drive seems madness from Newcastle never mind Aberdeen!

Good luck, and dont forget to take plenty of photos for your trippy

That's 8-10 hours to Gerrards Cross on Friday night and then on Monday morning it will take us about 1.5 hours to get to Dover. (Well it did the last time so here's hoping

What I didn't add is that DH is happy to do 90% of the driving! We normally get as far as Birmingham before he asks me to take the wheel. All our friends think we're mad lol
